A company that deals in artificial intelligence held an international beauty contest, and it was judged by their own AI creations. Turns out, the winners were predominantly light skinned, even though skin color was not a programmed factor:

I know that research has been done, to determine what physical characteristics are typically percieved as attractive. I would assume that the results of those studies, or similar studies, would have been used in the creation of the AI software. Could it be, then, that darker skinned folks simply don't typically share those characteristics? That thought wasn't even brought up. I note, too, that one dark skinned contestant made it through, which really puts a damper on their argument, in my book.
Of course, this whole thing is silly, to begin with. I recall my dating days; on many occasions, I met women who I percieved to be attractive, until they began speaking. Then I lost interest. Sometimes they just had a voice that grated my ears, sometimes their words indicated a lack of brain function. Sometimes they just had a crappy attitude. On the other hand, I also recall meeting women who were less physically attractive, but a combination of attitude quality, particular body movement, and evidence of a properly functioning brain suddenly made more attractive.
