Vacation Ideas

Post by Reverenddel »

When your boss tells you that you need a vacation? You need a vacation.

A'ight, I need some ideas. I have a passport, so nothing's off limits right now. I'm in fair shape, so active vacations are fine as well.

Have at it!

National parks in the western states are nice if you haven't seen them. Glacier, Yosemite, and Yellowstone. With your camping skills, it would be less expensive and the trout fishing is great out there.

I've also heard that Alaskan cruises are pretty cool.

Last, those European river cruises advertised on TV always intrigued me as well.

Have fun!

My cousin is fixxin to go to Europe. Myself, I'm inclined to stay within the continental US borders; I prefer to keep my head firmly attached to my neck.

Nebraska and Wyoming look to have great places for hiking, hunting, and camping. I'm not into hunting, but if I was, I would want to hunt, there. Swamp mentioned Yosemite; I have been camping there. It's in California, so that's a downside, but I do remember that it was a pretty place, otherwise.

My father has been camping there, in Yosemite, several times. Once, he got up in the middle of the night to walk to the bathhouse. Getting to the bathhouse required passing through the parking lot. The parking lot was filled with bears, who were raiding vehicles for food. They had ripped doors open, thrown vehicle contents about, etc. Dad decided that the bathhouse wasn't really all that important, after all, and he was thankful that he hadn't left any food in the car. His was one of the few cars left untouched.

TBH suggests that a castle tour would be a fun thing to do.

Myself, I have been wanting to get a fully restored, 60's era Cadillac and a 60's era Airstream, and ride old Route 66, along with a few other old highways, and hit every old tourist trap that I pass. I drive by so many, when I am working, but I never have time to stop.

If you never saw Europe, I'd say go for it. Hotel prices are at historical low levels, not crowded and the airfares are also very low thanks to low oil cost and drop in tourists.
Plus, it may be your last chance to see it before it implodes. For now it's still pretty safe.
US? you can see it anytime after mother EU does down the drain.

ATV or dual-sport on W. Va's Hatfield-McCoy trail system?

Sailing cruise in the Caribbean?

Canoe trip in the MN Boundary Waters?

Kelu has my mind...

Because I know after things go wrong, I'll never get to the Urals, or Carpathian's after that...

Thought about Mongolia, until I priced it. HOLY CRAP!

I've spent a month in Honduras, as well as a month in Barbados and a month in Belize. If your Spanish is at high school level and you have $1,500 to $2,000, you can live like a king for a month.

There is some amazing natural scenery, ancient ruins, some of the best diving I have ever experienced... and even though monkeys are thieves and can be mean if you have food around, they are a ton of fun to play with. And wild monkeys in Central America LOVE the gringos. :hysterical:

My top choice is Christ Church Parrish in Barbados. Wild horses on the beach is an awesome scene!

If a hunt might interest you, Garry Reeder of Reeder Custom Guns yearly hunt in I believe Tennessee is coming up very quickly. Chance to hunt all kinds of critters, and play with some of Gary's custom guns too. Just a thought...
