Are these weenies gonna get on board anytime soon & honor VA CHP's...?

I made a trip to Columbus, GA last week. WOW..! I was pretty uncomfortable knowing Georgia didn't honor VA CHP's.

Plus, after carrying daily for years, it just felt weird to be "naked".

I know... I feel the same way. I usually don't spend time in GA, even though I have friends there, for this very reason. I always encourage my friends to come to VA and stay here instead.

I hear ya ! I drove out west a few months ago. I refused to stop in Illinois for the same reason...lol.

I had no choice but to go to GA though. My son is doing some training at Ft Benning. Hadn't seen him in awhile & not sure when the next time will be.....

I can sympathize. I drive all over the 48 States unarmed. Every time some locality has a period of unrest (Ferguson, Orlando, etc.), I start getting nervous. It wasn't that bad, back when I had a big, scary dog.

These days, I have developed an interest in alternative and improvised weaponry. As a thought exercise, I like to look around me, and consider the effectiveness of available objects as weapons.

I couldn't do your job, H. We really need national reciprocity.

National reciprocity would be a good step.

What would be better, though, is an abolishment of all firearm laws, aside from the 2nd Amendment. Then, we wouldn't have to worry about it.

bear spray, aka pepper spray with a scary bear on the bottle, is legal many places where pepper spray is not. WTF?

The other option is good old' wasp killer. Get that in they eyes of an attacker, and they'll be out of action for a while. 50 state legal, and often 2-3x the range of pepper... but its only eye-effective.

Hammers, still 50-state legal. So is carrying a mit, a ball, and a bat. Never know when a pick up game is going to happen.

In your line of work, having a spare ratchet winch bar is always useful.

Lol, in my line of work, I find it necessary to carry a couple of crowbars, a ball-peen hammer,and a fire extinguisher.

Change is handy at rest area vending machines, so I have a Crown Royal bag with change in it. Although, I'm considering keeping my change in a sock, instead.

There are always documents to sign, so I carry metal pens. Zebra makes one, that's available in truck stops, and ink cartridges for it are available in the same truck stops. I also carry an Uzi Tactical Pen.

Since my truck requires a key, I have a key ring; it looks similar to these:

I have pepper spray, too, and we did keep a zapper handy, but TBH gave it to another driver. The other driver was a woman who drives solo, and didn't have much in the way of defense options. We figured we could easily replace it.

Lowe's has Wasp Spray on sale for a buck a can...20' range and I can say a shot in the eyes will slow down any attacker. I got just a little in my eye several weeks ago while spraying a paper hive....It took a couple hrs. to completely recover. I would think it is still legal in all states....Well , maybe not Califorinia !

Yes, legal....as a pesticide. Not for a planned defensive spray. Terrible suggestion. Illegal to use in that manner (not consistent with intended use) and its a poison meant to kill.

Pepper spray is a much better option.

Though what you say is technically accurate, I think the gist of the convo is, in a life or death situation, what common everyday items are around that you can use as a self defense tool? If someone is attacking me with a knife, trying to hurt or kill me, I doubt the police/AG/judge/jury would arrest, have a trial and convict me of illegal use of a chair/fire extinguisher/wasp spray.

Correct me if I am wrong, but wouldn't justified or excusable use of lethal force be just that... justified or excusable, regardless of the means? Why would it matter if I use a knife or gun compared to a chair or wasp spray?

Yikes! That key ring looks to have the potential to create a "friendly fire" incident for those with loose fitting pants.
