And so it has begun...

Hawaii's governor signed a bill making it the first state to place its residents who own firearms in a federal criminal record database and monitor them for possible wrongdoing anywhere in the country, his office said.

...

Hawaii state Senator Will Espero, a Democrat who co-authored the law and owns a gun, called it "common sense legislation that does not hurt anyone."

Until it does.. then the apologies, but no changing tolls go off.

From FOPA: "No such rule or regulation prescribed [by the Attorney General] after the date of the enactment of the Firearms Owners Protection Act may require that records required to be maintained under this chapter or any portion of the contents of such records, be recorded at or transferred to a facility owned, managed, or controlled by the United States or any State or any political subdivision thereof, nor that any system of registration of firearms, firearms owners, or firearms transactions or disposition be established."

Might that mean that Hawaii can send the information but Feds are not permitted to recieve?

No wonder Obama loves it there some much. F federal law... F the constitution...

Someone really needs to step up and smack that law down ASAP.

Nope. Its the job of courts via civil complaint to deem the law unconstitutional. Before that can happen, a person has to be affected in some way to be considered "having standing" to file a complaint. Then, after all evidence is presented, the panel will decide if evidence presented supports the argument.

The problem is, years could go by before the case is even heard.
