Virginia Gun Owners Forum - VGOF

We're going to be heading for Norfolk next weekend and I'm looking for some info. Both my wife and I have PA carry licenses (Utah and AZ as well) so we're good as far as that goes in VA. But I've found conflicting info about regulations in particular cities, even tho, I believe, VA has a preemption law. Are we good to go carrying in Richmond and Norfolk or do we have our rights taken away there?

I am no lawyer, but if reciprocity between the states exist, Premeption keeps those counties, and cities from treating it like anything other than a VA permit.

I saw that, and it's what got me confused because it enumerate the places where carry is not permitted and among those are a number of localities, including Norfolk.

I'm pretty sure that what you are reading is that: non-CHP holders are prohibited from carrying certain items in Norfolk.

Ah, I see. "in the following localities" pertains to the ninth bullet point regarding non-permit holders. Because it was flush left, I was reading that as being part of the main point of where carry is prohibited. I'm a dummy. Thanks much!

I find this website quite helpful for information on all 50 states http://www.handgunlaw.us Just be careful going through Maryland, they have a well documented habit of harassing gun owners from neighboring states.
