Ontario to Remove Persons over 65 from Hip & Knee Surgery Waitlists?
In an effort to reduce wait times across the Province, Queen’s Park announced today that persons over the age of 65 will no longer be receiving hip or knee replacements under OHIP. This comes after a study released by Health Canada demonstrates that patients under the age of 65 respond better to hip or knee replacements and have a better chance of seeing their quality of life improve.
Patients who have been on the wait list but who are no longer eligible due to the new age cut-offs will be offered a one time payment of $6,000.00 which patients can use to access private therapy or use towards the cost of attaining surgery abroad.
Patients who are under 65 will begin to see wait times drop from 6 or more months, down to a few weeks. This is welcome news for the hundreds of people waiting on the list!
The average cost of a hip replacement is approximately $50,000 CAD, while a knee replacement is closer to $35,000 CAD.

My Thoughts:
Welcome to socialized "medicine"
It will happen here regardless of who gets elected until they either repel Obamacare, or change the majority of it. The powers that be have decided the planet is overcrowded, so they are figuring out how to reduce it without being too obvious, abortion, killing off old people and coming up with vaccine that is reducing fertility in some.
