Microsoft, in an experiment with Artificial Intelligence, creates a learning chatbot that communicates on Twitter. Almost immediately, the Bot becomes a Trump-loving, neonazi, racist that blames 9/11 on GW.

Personally, I find this to be hilarious. The target demographic was 18-24 year olds, which, of course, is bound to grab the attention of anyone as young as 13. This, in turn, covers the ages of 15-20, and those, at that age, find it funny to teach curse words to toddlers, and blow bong smoke in the faces of kittens and puppies.

What did Microsoft expect?

And that's why you shouldn't be allowed to vote until age 25!

It's not the voting age that concerns me; it's the lack of other requirements. I'm beginning to see the value in the original voting requirements.

Microsoft should have let this play out for a year. It would have been interesting to see if it worked itself out. Apparently, they had great success with the Asian version. Instead, they shut it down to "brainwash" it, and they plan to re-release it. But, doesn't that sort of defeat the purpose?

Microsoft said they wanted a learning bot, that talked like a teenage girl and had "zero chill" (had to look that one up). So the design goals were to emulate a teenager that didn't give a rip about what it said, and "learned" by parroting back whatever it was told? Based on the stated goals.... sounds like it was a smashing success!

ps. Anybody else suspect that "Tay" was the brainchild of a bunch of 20-30 something, male, software geeks who had high hopes of a "girl" that would actually chat with them?
