Imagine facing 2 years in prison for not registering a toy that looks like a gun. Well, this is a real concern for the people in Scotland today.

Sounds like a realistic option for our future, should we get Hillary and a couple of commie judges. In 8 years, we could be registering our Super Soakers.

The UK might as well go back to the olden days with dull knives and forks.

Calling the president a bald faced liar without actually saying "bald faced liar". At an earlier time, them would be fighting words.
Funny thing, progressives point to other countries as shining examples...conservatives point to those same countries as proof of idiocracy.

I have been reading about the motives behind this. It seems like it stems back to a shooting in 2010 in Cumbria, England. A guy used a 22 and a shotgun. Not sure how this translates to airsoft.
Scottish Parliament says they are going to regulate everything 1 Joule and over. A typical airsoft gun with a 340 FPS muzzle velocity produces 7 Joules. 7 Joules doesn't bruise at point blank range. 1 Joule is only 3/4 of a ft lb.
Scottish Parliament proposes new air weapon legislation Airsoft International Magazine
To let you know just how stupid this is... the weight of the atmosphere on the human body is 14.70 pounds per square inch or 2116.8 lbs per square foot. I guess that extra 3/4 ft lb is a real deal breaker on human life.

The campaign to tighten air gun controls gathered momentum after the death of toddler Andrew Morton in Glasgow in 2005, who was shot in the head by a drug addict.
For the children...
Areas where people will be asked for their views in the consultation will include the types of air weapon to be covered by the new regime, legitimate reasons for possession of an air weapon and timescales for the introduction of the new licensing system.
They will also be consulted on a licence fee to cover administration and other costs, and offences and penalties for anyone breaching the new law
...
"We are not consulting on the principle of licensing - this will happen. While our primary concern is for public safety, we do not wish to penalise those who use air weapons responsibly and who can demonstrate a legitimate use for a gun, such as sport shooting or pest control."

Do they classify shooting a home invader as "sport shooting" or "pest control"? What about shooting a mugger?
If this nonsense makes it Stateside, we have nowhere to go to escape it.

They'll just pass legislation and turn us all into criminals.

I wrote here the ordeals I had to pass to be able to buy an air rifle in my home country. Psychological exams (one written, a 2 hour test and one with doctors at a hospice - I can swear that the doctors were crazier than the patients), medical exam, blood analysis, interview with police officer, and some taxes. All these costs about 1 monthly salary there, and took a lot of time and trips.
All these for a 100 usd air rifle (BTW, taxes for these are 100%, so it costed double).
And you are forbidden under prison penalty to have more than 500 pellets, in case you have the idea to start a world was with that rifle.
Take good care, you can easily loose your good life if you sit on your asses and don't yell all day long.

In the US, one fundamental question is whether 'airsoft' guns (the replicas with plastic bbs) are actually covered by the Second Amendment. The root of the second amendment is the defense against an overreaching and centralized government, as Federalist #46 describes. I've heard of a few people who use airsofts for training purposes, but I actually believe there is more protection for firearms than airsoft guns in our Constitution because of that nexus to the original purpose of viable self-defense in the amendment. It should be MORE difficult to ban real firearms than airsofts, I think.

"They'll just pass legislation and turn us all into criminals."
Oh...Swamp... they don't wanna do that. Firearms, and their legal possession is the only motivation I have ever had to FOLLOW the law...
You make me a criminal... I have decades of pent up criminality that I'm MORE than happy to expunge on the general population... MUAHAHHAHAHAHAH

Might as well live up to their lofty standards!
