I was taught many decades ago that the aircraft industry found out very early on that pilots were MUCH more likely to be aware of and react to a female voice alarm than a male one.

My first, and actually only, experience with a female voice alarm was when one went off on the exit radiation scanners at the Navy nuclear site I was at. Thankfully it wasn't me that set it off.

Makes sense that pilots would react to the female voice, being that pilots are predominantly male.

Although, I would think that a married pilot might be conditioned to ignore the urgent female voice, thinking that the urgency was most likely due to a small spider or some such nonsense.

Ha. You know, I moved a piece of furniture the other day. When I came back in the house, TBH was staring at the wall saying, "kill it kill it kill it!"

What she thought was a large spider, was a scary dust bunny that had nested behind the furniture I moved.

I know my wife has seen/found a spider when I hear a shoe going smack, smack, smack, smack, smack on the floor.

Whether she get's it the first or second smack is immaterial, she continues to smack it till it's smashed/smeared and requires first a dry wipe with some tissues, to get up the biggest of the small pieces she's made out of it. Then a wet wipe with tissues to make sure all the liquid residue and any formerly solid parts now smashed/mixed with the liquid is loosened up and removed. Followed by another dry wipe to insure any/all liquid material from what was a spider is now removed from the surface.

Not quite as fast as a wood pecker on a tree, but pretty rapid. After 39 years, I know immediately what the noise is/means.

Spiders are hard to hit with a 1/4" x 1/4" spiked heal.

I heard someone say that with the availability of technology today, there is not good reason for print, such as news paper or magazines. I have to disagree. Have you every swatted a spider with a tablet or PC?

As long as people catch fish, we'll need newspapers. That, and lining the bottom of a bird cage.
