Keanu Reeves - Much Respect From Me

Wow... I am impressed. Keanu Reeves using 3-Gun for training in preparation for a new movie (John Wick 2), and he is very good at it. He understands that there are 10's of millions of people who are firearms enthusiasts who are going to see the movie and he wants it to be as realistic as possible.

I have always liked his acting, but I have a bit more respect for Keanu Reeves as a person after seeing this.

I know he has said he doesn't think its a good idea for everyone to carry guns and some people will call him a hypocrite for it, but I don't think that is any different than any of us have ever said. I don't think "everyone" should carry a gun either.

I don't think that "everyone" should be carrying a gun, either. But, I don't trust anyone to be in charge of deciding who gets have guns and who doesn't.

We've tried that, and we've ended up with absurd and arbitrary regulations.

So, I'm back to letting everyone have guns. The Constitution seems to think that it's OK. Of course, I also believe that the Constitution assumes that the folks that we wouldn't want armed would be hanged, as opposed to giving them a light spanking, and a stern talking to, before releasing them back to the public.

Looks like I should clarify a bit. We generally agree that violent felons should be barred from owning firearms. 200 years ago, the violent felon, once convicted, would be hanged shortly after his conviction. Now, the violent felon, once convicted, serves a partial sentence, then gets released. Then, the violent felon commits more crimes, usually. And, if he is so inclined, he obtains objects and substances that are forbidden to him, anyway. If we go back to hanging murderers, rapists, and horse thieves, then felons with guns are less of a concern.

Marc, I saw this the other day, and I would have to agree with you on it's impressiveness. This type of training is certainly no easy accomplishment; you can tell he's been practicing. Good on him.

Yeah I saw this over on glock talk. Pretty cool. I was actually commenting the other day to someone about the gun handling in John Wick being realistic vs some stuff you see in other action crap movies.

You can kid about Keanu... but never disrespect his love of the craft. He takes learning skills for his role VERY seriously.

This.

FWIW, I think John Wick was his best movie - even over the Matrix series.
