Trump fans beware, this may offend you.

I am not a fan of Trump. The author of this piece says things that I agree with whole-heartedly. Trump is a loser. Rubio and Cruz have their short-comings, but are far and away better than this blathering circus clown.

Nah. Trump is many things, but not a loser. At least, not in the general sense of the word. Even if he doesn't get the GOP nomination, I still wouldn't call him a political loser. He has directed the conversation, this election cycle. His candidacy has eliminated the seemingly inevitable Bush run.

So, there is that. And, Circus Clown? Well, yeah. He probably is.

Regardless of my defense of Trump.....

Ted Cruz 2016.

Cruz is the only true Conservative of the group.

It's too bad that the GOP sees that as a liability.

Does the GOP really see Cruz's conservatism as a liability, or is Trump's popularity among the ill-informed driving that perception? And, in my contextual use of the word "loser", Trump is a loser and a scumbag. Maybe @SHMIV means he isn't a loser because of his success in business?

From Sept 2015 - "In an interview with ‘Rolling Stone‘ this past week, presidential candidate Donald Trump reiterated a thought that seems to be on his mind a lot: sex with his daughter, Ivanka Trump. “Yeah, she’s really something, and what a beauty, that one. If I weren’t happily married and, ya know, her father…” "

We suffered through eight years of BC, who didn't make outrageous statements like this, probably because Hillary has a knife just like Lorena Bobbitt. This guy is worse because he doesn't care that his wife is listening.

Anyway, Cruz has his own problems, apparently with his campaign staff. He'll blame things on his staff, and the media makes a big deal about a "shakeup", Bravo Sierra. But no one states the obvious that Cruz hired the slimeball. Cruz doesn't do it for me. In fact, none of them do. Just don't have the level of trust in any of the candidates that makes me want to sit up, pay attention, and say, "Yeah, I really agree with that."

So Cruz is the true conservative? Let's talk about his proposed tax policy. Flat tax, no loopholes, minimal deductions, etc, etc. Dig a little deeper and you find the "Business Transfer Tax." This could be the same as corporate taxes. Let's look at his verbage. Business Transfer Tax. Got to hand it to him, this is the first politician who has called it what it really is. Businesses add enough to the cost of their product or service to pay the corporate tax the treasury collects. Look at your receipt, it's right there. So why not just raise the flat tax rate and jettison the corporate tax? Because it keeps the independents happy, that's why.

I'll vote for whoever the Republican nominee is for two reasons: 1) to keep Hillary/Bernie out of the White House; and 2) because it's my civic duty to vote. But make no mistake, I'll be holding my nose the entire time.

I think that most of what we see of Trump is a TV character. Trump took the persona that he created for the Apprentice, and extended it to the campaign trail.

Trump has been known to be charitable for the sake of being charitable, by the way:

I don't believe that Donald Trump is the best man we've got running for President. But, I don't think that he's a scumbag or a loser, either. He's a man with flaws. We all have flaws.

As long as you're ok with your vote sending the message that you want more candidates like that, because that's ultimately what it tells the RNC when you pull the lever even if you hold your nose doing it.

For a little perspective, Republicans held their nose to try to keep Obama out, and look where that got them. Still got 8 years of Obama and still no better candidates. It's going to be a long 8 years of dealing with Hillary.

All of the big money from establishment GOP supporters that was behind Bush has now moved over to Rubio. And, if Rubio does in fact give a rat's fuzzy behind about conservatives then why is he ditching CPAC next month? Well, I'll tell you why. It's because he doesn't want or need support from conservatives in November.

Or maybe because he already knows that neither conservatives or dejected Trump fans wouldn't vote for him regardless. So why bother? The establishment GOP is perfectly happy to lose to Hillary in November, just like they did with McCain and Romney running against Obama.

The only thing left now is for Ann Coulter to come out in support of Rubio. That's it, man. Game over.

That pic would be RUN!!!!

After much thought and prayer I have come to the conclusion that America will not be saved through politics. The only real hope for our once great nation is a return to God and the gentle self restraint and respect for human life that Christianity brings. If we look for a political savior we will be most disappointed and disillusioned. Vote for the best we can but nothing but the hand of God himself can stop or even slow the decent.

Right now our country is drunk on hedonism and avarice of the worst kind. I can only pray that God does not hand our nation over to it's sins and that as in In the days of Sodom and Gomorrah that he will spare the wicked for the sake of the righteous. Surely there are 10 righteous people in the great state of Virginia.

@MBC, I agree.

It comes down to culture, really. Brad Bright, the son of Campus Crusade for Christ founders, Bill and Vonette Bright, wrote a book on the subject. You can obtain a PDF copy of it for free:

http://discovergod.com/god-is-the-issue/

I've met Brad Bright; great guy. The book is good, too. I had a printed copy that Brad gave me, but I loaned it out, and never got it back.

I didn't start out wanting Trump , Cruz was my first choice . Now I like Trump because he is the only one to say what everybody else thinks. I just hope he can beat Hillary .

I'd be a lot more comfortable with Trump if he talked about the Constitution more. And, not just talk about it, but display an accurate knowledge of the document.

That's why I am still a Cruz fan. Ted Cruz has displayed an understanding of the Constitution, and has fought for Constitutional principles, even in opposition to fellow Republicans.

I'm not a big fan of any of the candidates, but if the establishment hates Trump so bad, then he has my support. Enemy of the enemy *may* be my friend.

I was under the same impression, but the guy lies and steps on principles too much for my taste.

So, Rubio is the new Bush? ORS, I think you're wrong. Rubio does need the conservative vote. He can't win without it. First I've heard that he is ditching CPAC. Don't know how he thinks that will help.

ShotgunBlast - staying home is not an option. Giving the election to the Dems is not an option. Voting isn't just a right, it is, I believe, a civic duty. Use it or lose it.

I'm really tired of the all the BS. I'll vote on Tuesday. Was on the fence - Cruz or Rubio. Skipping CPAC is going to tarnish my view of Rubio.

Maybe it's time to start ignoring politics and concentrate on me and mine. MBC has it exactly right, faith and family will save this republic, not politics. Guess I was delusional. :out_cold:

Bush dropped out, after failing miserably from the get go. It's not that Rubio is the new Bush. It's that Rubio is the most likely, of the remaining candidates that actually have a snowballs chance, to get in line with the Establishment GOP. At least, sometimes, anyway. So, Rubio has, somewhat begrudgingly, become their pick.

All the candidates have their flaws. So, I guess the question is, who's flaws are the most tolerable? And, don't forget, we should compare each Republican to Bernie and Hillary, too.

I don't think it matters who the Republican party puts up. History favors a change in parties. If Hillary Clinton gets the Dimocrat nomination, through hook and crook like it has been going so far. Where are the Bernie supporters going to go? It will be funny that ultimately Socialism will be what beats Bernie, after all it will be the ultimate case of taking from those that have and giving to those who need. I think they will be so pissed off at the Dimocratic party that they will either sit out the election or vote for whoever runs for the Republicans.
Right now, If I were guessing the odds I'd say it's 5:10 or better that Trump will get the nomination, 3:10 for Rubio because of establishment backing and 2:10 for Cruz. If I had to describe the three, we have a guy who owns a chain of used car dealerships outside of military installations with a we finance E-1 and up (Trump), a used car salesmen of the month (Rubio) and a doctor with no bedside manner a la House (Cruz). I look at it as there will never be a candidate I agree with 100%, but I will have to pick amongst those who are putting themselves out there to run for office.
