I prefer to carry my Shield or one of my double stack 9mm pistols, but political reality often dictates just what you can carry. Most of the time, this is my EDC.

* iPhone 6 in a Tech 21 case - can't recommend it enough!

* Alpine Swiss wallet - inexpensive, great slim wallet

* Wedding band

I'm probably going to be screwed if something ever happens while I'm away from the truck. Since my truck is my home and my office, for all intents and purposes, and I am rarely ever away from it for more than a few minutes, and it's painful to keep stuff in my pockets while driving, my EDC is lacking. When I exit my truck, I generally have:

*Paper cash, in money clip. Amount varies, but usually a couple hundred.

*Change. Amount varies wildly.

*Cigarettes

*Lighter

*Wallet, on chain, with emergency whistle (But, I only carry my wallet if I plan on using the ATM or fueling the truck)

*Phone- Android OS, Samsung Galaxy S5 (but only if I plan to eat)

TBH usually rushes me out of the truck too fast for me to remember to grab anything else.

When I am home, things change a bit. But, that is far from EDC.

Charlie, what kind of knife is that? I haven't seen it for sale at the local gun stores. Is that carbon fiber?

My EDC is a Tarus PT111 Milennium G2. Taurus has gotten a bad rap in the past, probably deserved, but they got it right with this model. I know a lot of folks who carry this everyday. Very Compact but a double stack 12+1 9mm. Has been flawless for me on the range. With an extra Mag I'm carrying 25 rounds of ammo on me. I use a Desantis Tuck This II holster.

This is a prime example of why I shouldn't read these threads in last-post-first order. By the time I got to the picture of this wonder-knife, I was already in "maybe-I-better-git-me-one-of-them" mode.

DorminWS, I'm in the waiting room of the OBGYN - start of third trimester! - and I started laughing out loud. Now they all wonder just what is so funny....

Since this thread popped up a couple of months ago, I've found myself concerned with what's on my person at any given time. As such, while my standard EDC isn't quite perfect, it has improved. It now consists of:

*UZI tactical pen. Aside from being a writing utensil, it also has a glass break point, a handcuff key, and can be useful as a weapon, if need be.

*Smith & Wesson handcuff key. I can actually recall a party where this thing would have been useful.

*Zippo lighter. I used to carry one; now I do again.

*Bic lighter. Just in case. Besides, a little tube of explosive gas might have an alternate use one day. Who knows.

*Cigarettes. Useful for bee stings. Seen it happen. Also useful for keeping me civil.

*Loose change.

*Paper money.

*SOG Multi-Tool. Has pliers, file, beer opener, soupcan opener, blade, awl, and screwdrivers. Will soon be retro - fitted with lockpicks, possibly at the expense of something else.

50% of the time, I still leave my wallet and my phone in the truck. Depending on what truck key I grab, I may also have pepper spray on my person, or the pointy eared cat head.

I have a secondary multitool coming to me; a smaller size and slightly different features. I also plan to replace the tie cords in my various hoodies with paracord. If I wore shoes with laces, I'd replace the laces with paracord, too. As it is, I wear boots. So, I'm trying to figure out what I can tuck into boot shafts.

Like I said, not perfect, but it has gotten better over the past couple of months.

OK, how do you gents carry these? Most are pretty big and you would print in summer and you cannot drive with these on and in a holster. Then you risk getting into trouble as you holster and un-holster as you exit and enter the vehicle.
What's the deal?

Oakes, I have since switched for EDC to a Sig P938 in a Stealthgear USA AIWB holster. I can drive, and I know I can sit/stand with it on, no problems. Yes, you are always, always aware that there is a loaded pistol right on your femoral or pointed straight at the family Scepter and Orbs, but that just makes you even more careful.

In fact, I have found it so comfortable with the P938 - I didn't even have to buy new jeans despite my newfound dad bod (son is 9 weeks today!! <3) - that I am thinking about doubling down and buying the holster for my XDM and my Sig P320. It's actually more comfortable than my IWB at 3-4:30.

You DO need to train past any established muscle memory. If I ever draw the pistol (eg, at the range), the holster ALWAYS come out and everything is reset. The price of extra extra extra caution is offset with more accessibility for my commute and my profession.

I carry mine everywhere but into the county courthouse.

I have a couple different holsters.

One is called the air marshal 3. It's a heavy/wide cotton band with a shoulder strap that fits around my chest/ribs just above the bottom of the ribs. It has a pocket on one side that puts the gun under my left arm. I wear a t- shirt under the rig and a button up shirt over it. I leave the top couple of buttons unbuttoned to make access easier. Yeah, makes me sweat more.

One is a combination of kydex and leather that goes inside the waist band on my right hip. The same combination of t- shirt and button up cotton shirt covers it, too.

Is it visible to others? My wife says she can't see them, either holster. So far, in stores, restaurants, walking around, etc. no one has mentioned to me that they see the gun. Many folks would not say anything but these days I'm sure some people would be upset/offended enough to question my carrying of a handgun.

Oh, spare mag is in my left pants pocket. More spare mags. in the door pocket of my vehicle.

M1A4ME, try the Underarmor or similar t-shirts. Much more comfortable than cotton, much dryer, much cooler.

I carry mine in a Galco Royal Guard or a King Tuck. I don't have any problems with driving while concealed. That said, I usually pull my pistol out of the holster once seated in the vehicle and place it in the center console. It is much easier to get to in an emergency than having to deal with my shirt, seat belt, and other obstacles in the vehicle. Before I open the door... I re-holster and then get out.

I wear loose fit clothing and almost never tuck in my shirts. If I do, the King Tuck is made for it. Works really well when I am wearing slacks and a collared t-shirt. If I am wearing jeans, I keep spare mags in my pocket. In slacks... 17+1 and tuck one spare mag in a holster under my tucked shirt.

I always wear a belt designed for holding a holstered weapon.

Bottom line... dress and holster according to you weapon or adjust the weapon you carry to the way you dress.

When I'm ready to drop the stick into drive, I simply remove the gun from the front pants pocket rig and stick it IWB, under my shirt, at the appendix position. When I get ready to get out, I switch back to the pocket. Ditto for winter coat, Rig and all get swapped to the coat pocket, until I'm ready to go indoors. Then I "palm' the entire rig and put it into the pants pocket. Velcro in the coat pocket and on the rig keeps things where I put them.

Looks like I need further education on carrying. I carry IWB mostly, in a cheap holster (currently shopping for a new one and always pay attention to what others use) and it typically goes into the center console holster and all when I drive for the same reasons Marc stated. It is easier to properly locate the weapon on my hip after I get out of the car and stand up. What caught my attention is the second sentence in the quoted post. Transition from sitting in the vehicle to standing outside sounds like a critical point that might get me in trouble if I am remiss in my movements/actions during that period. Would appreciate a trip to the woodshed on this, but be gentle!
