Not according to Bernie Sanders. He's got a plan to tax us all into poverty so McD workers can earn that big $15/hr living wage. Or something.

It's near time to welcome our new robot masters. The progs are doing all they can to hasten it. Maybe they own stock in robotics companies - that would be a good explanation of their real reason for destroying low-wage jobs. It certainly isn't that they care about the people who have those jobs - those people can't afford to make campaign contributions.

This ho$$#!t about "living wages" irritates the hell out of me. One, if you have made a career of jockeying a register at McDonald's or stocking shelves at Walmart, you have failed. Sorry, but you've made poor life decisions.

Two, if you accept a job, you make your deal when you walk in the door. If the terms that you accept are $5 per one hour of your time, then all you are owed is that $5 per hour of your time. It doesn't matter what the job description is, or how long you work there, or what the local living expenses are. You made the deal. If health insurance was not offered as part of the terms of employment, the you are not owed any effin' health insurance. If raises were not discussed, and were not part of the terms of employment, then no one owes you any raises; even if you've been there for 50 years.

Lastly, no one owes you a living. Quit whining. Suck it up. Be grown up and pave your own way.

People are their own worst enemy. They accept mediocrity, instead of taking some chances. Not even BIG chances, but at least BETTER yourself!

It's not so much that people are inclined to accept mediocrity; if that were the case, we wouldn't be discussing wages. The problem is people who want to put forth minor effort and receive major rewards.

If people want to be mediocre, ain't my business. But, if you want to be mediocre, then accept the mediocre accessories that come with the lifestyle. But, it's absurd to expect to bring in the cash to support steak dinners, fine wine, and a massive television set if all you do is line up TP and Cap'n Crunch on a shelf at a big box. A 5 year old can perform the same work.

We can only change the children that WE raise! I've given up hope on society, politics, and all the people who claim they want to change things.

One of my dear old Pappy's favorite expressions to convey the idea that someone was responsible for his own fate (a frequent theme of his, I might add) was "ROOT, HAWG, OR DIE."

Planning for just this eventuality. Likely as not it won't be in the Old Dominion.
