To show a welcoming spirit, anti-gun Fairfax Senator Dave Marsden has the following sign posted near his office:

“Welcome gun Lobby Day members
I know you mean well. But, if it isn’t too much trouble, please stop trying to save our lives… Too many people are getting killed in the effort.”

With some word-smithing, here is a sign for a pro-gun Senator’s door:

“Welcome gun-control Lobby Day members
Gun control was created to disarm minorities after the Civil War, so please stop trying to control them and everyone else… Too many innocent people are getting killed in the effort.”

Well, our Lobby Day team assigned to Senator Marsden looks forward to seeing him on Monday anyway!

Regionally:In 2010, the last census, Maryland had 5.1/100,000 firearms murders according to FBI statistics. Maryland has more stringent gun control than Va.
Washington DC had a rate of 16.5/100,000 that year. Firearms are almost totally banned there.
Virginia had a rate of 3.1/100,000. What was Mr. Marsden's point?

His point was to be obnoxious and snarky. He wasn't actually trying to convey anything of depth, meaning, or substance.
