Today I learned of President Obama's announcement to take executive action on the issue of gun violence. Tired of the inaction of Congress and distraught by the senseless loss of life, the president joined gun control activists in calling for real changes that will save lives.

I commend the president’s commitment to solving this problem and join him in vowing to do everything I can to decrease the number of deaths caused by guns, by signing my executive order in October that directed actions to keep guns out of dangerous hands. President Obama's call to expand criminal background checks, conduct more gun research and better track lost guns will help push forward these efforts.

Will you stand with President Obama and me and call on Congress to support commonsense changes to our gun laws? No one should have to die when a gun gets into the wrong hands.

I know this is an issue that touches the hearts of so many Virginians. Our state endured one of the worst episodes of gun violence in American history, when 32 people were massacred at Virginia Tech in 2007. More recently, the nation was horrified when two Roanoke journalists were shot dead during a live TV broadcast.

Americans deserve better than this. No one should have to live in fear of being gunned down at their school, job or place of worship. We’ve got to act.

Please take a minute and join me in supporting our president in his efforts to reform our gun laws and end these tragedies once and for all.

Michigan is looking pretty good. Friend up there says they just passed a law that CHP holders can go before a state board, answer some questions, and upon approval get a stamp on their CHP that gives them UNLIMITED carry. ANYWHERE! EVEN THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE!

I will stay and fight for as long as I can. Perhaps just perhaps the most recent bovine excrement is enough to wake some people up. Elections matter and when you vote for Sarvis or stay home because you are worried about the Cooch being too conservation you get McAwful. Anyway.

If it becomes a losing battle I will be most sorry. My family through the years has worn out a path between VA and TX. So if I must I will relocate back. But that is not something I want to do.

I've only lived in Virginia. Hell, I got family traced back to 1790 in Va on both sides, and family buried in the Confederate Section of some old cemeteries.

I do NOT WANT to leave... but at some point, you cannot tolerate it any more. These people who left their states because voting incorrectly has screwed up their schools, tax-base, and guv'mint come to my fine Commonwealth, and CONTINUE...TO VOTE... INCORRECTLY!

I'm from the northeast. At least one relative wore union blue. Came here to go to college at JMU. Loved the valley so much it only took eight years after I left to find work to make my way back. Always thought I'd spend the rest of my days here. Not so sure anymore.

I always wonder if leaving to escape stupidity will just find more of the same. I don't want to move but about one more time. Next place I hope to be in my final spot.
