Why we don't have a plethora of new forum members

I was commenting to someone awhile back "We seem to have plateaued on members".
After perusing some other forums looking for some info on something obscure.
It hit me...
...WE in this forum, expect civility. Even in the face of opposition. We attempt to maintain decorum, and politeness.
There have been the occasional spark ups, but nothing to the degree to which I have read elsewhere.
Kudos you stupid doodoo-headed illegitimate donkey breeders.

hahahaha!!!
I agree. I am very impressed with our members. I always appreciate hearing the other side of the debate when that person is civil. I'm even okay with some minor ribbing and sarcasm... but there is no reason to be rude or to attack someone. I can't recall that happening here during my membership.

Oh, yeah. We are pretty civil, here. If we had members like what I've seen on other forums, I'd have been gone, long ago.
It seems that Rick programmed in some @$$#0/3 repellent, when he created the site.
I've tried to get some friends and family to come over here, and my mother has even created an account, but none of my people are really inclined to hang out on forums.
I've noticed, over the past few months, that some previously active members seem to have vanished. But, I suppose that's the nature of the internet. Folks show up out of the blue, then fade away over the course of time.

Overall.... I don't think forums are as popular as they were a few years ago. Facebook seems to be the social experience of the day. Especially with younger folks. I frequent multiple forums, some that I've been active in for over a decade. They are dead compared to the discussions, & or number of members they had 10yrs ago.

Well here is part of it too. I can't access the forum from any of my mobile devices. I simply can't. I have tried with my old phone. I tried with my new phone. I tried with my iphone. Eventually I gave up. Finally as a long shot I tried to access the forum from my computer and I got in. So it might just be my account or my devices but that could be a problem too.

I know there is an issue with creating a new thread from within Tapatalk. I believe that is in the process of being addressed. I'll look into direct access from mobile devices and see what's going on.

I know a lot of people that are into firearms...Most just buy them , maybe shoot a few times and into the closet they go. I think they are into buying more than being a true firearms enthusiast. I know quite a few that view this forum regularly but , are too lazy to register.

That would be nice. I have had to abandon countless threads I try and start. I do most all my forum reading via craptalk.

The mobile version of the site should work fine. I have used it on several devices with no issues. Also, your mobile browser on both Apple and Android platforms allow you to request the "desktop" version of the site, simulating a computer OS instead of a portable OS.

I view this site on the mobile version on my Android phone and quite honestly it sucks. I'm not sure if that's something that can be fixed or if that's just phpBB on mobile. In addition to not being able to see attached images in threads, I have to switch to the desktop version if I want to access the forum index so I can create a new thread (on mobile there are only links to new threads, active threads, and user control panel). I start scrolling down a thread to start reading, but every time a social media share image loads it jumps me back to the top of the page. Just recently Firefox on Android updated and now instead of wrapping text based on the screen size to fit, just this page alone has a set width with no way to zoom in or out which forces you to use landscape and even then you have to scroll.
Not trying to crap on the site because the people that run it do a great job, just highlighting some of the frustrations that may prevent some people from viewing.

Agree I am not beating up on anyone. Yall do a fabulous job and a thankless one. Just offering suggestions as to why perhaps people are not hanging about as much.

I never have tried tapatalk. On my main phone, a Galaxy S5 Boost Mobile device, I use the stock browser. Some of the pictures that are posted, I have to switch to desktop to view, and there are a couple of other minor limitations, but it's no big deal.
On the back up "truck phone", an Alcatel One Touch Straight Talk device, I downloaded the Firefox mobile browser, as the phone did not come with a stock browser. The phone itself is a crappy phone, so most of the limits I encounter on that, I attribute to the device. Of course, TBH uses that phone to play Facebook games, so that doesn't help.

I stopped going to OpenCarry.org because it was nothing but gun-owners attacking each other. Couldn't stand it. I want as much as a stress-free environment as I can get. I get enough stress from McAwful and Obummer

I had the same problem on AR15.com. I said something that one guys didn't agree with and about 20 people attacked me, saying "well if so-n-so says that's not possible, then HATE HATE HATE!!!"
No thanks. I don't need that crap.

Ladies and Gentlemen sigh....I just got jumped all over in a facebook forum because I said that swatting a child's leg when they are totally out of line was not necessarily child abuse on it's face.
The internet is insane. Can't be helped. Just keep scrolling.

If we don't discipline them, no one will, including themselves.
I wonder how many people lashed out at that comment actually have kids? I'm going to guess the answer is either none or they have several, and they are all spoiled monsters that think the world owes them everything.
Just my opinion.
