How to shuddup an "Artists" whose a Progressive Communist

I had a discussion with a friend of mine whose an artist. He believes in socialism, and communism:

“How long have you practiced art?” I asked him.

“All my life” he replied.

“Did you study it in high school?”

“Yep! I was top of my class!” He goaded.

“You got a degree in it in College?”

“I have a Masters in Art.” He puffed.

“But you make barely any money with that skill set.”

“Doesn’t matter it’s what I’m good at doing.” He said.

“Okay, then you CHOSE that life to be an artist, because of natural talents. So how long would it take you to paint me a life portrait?” I asked

“Probably about a month with details, and clean up.” He answered.

“How much would that cost?”

“About $4k, or $5k with tools, materials, and time.” He summed.

“Okay, so let’s flip this. You have talent, skill, and training, and you can make a life portrait that in a month cost about $5k, and you’ll make about $4k from your time. WHY is it hard for you to believe that there are people who have talent, skill, and training in finance that can make people money, and themselves money, and it’s not ‘fair for them to have that much money’? That doesn’t make ANY sense to me whatsoever. You hate on people who steal your works of art online, without paying you… how is income redistribution not the same exact thing for people who do their ‘art with money.’ ?”

He tried to pull some political bullshittery about it, and I said “No, you have not answered the effin' question. You don’t want people to use your art without paying for it, but you cannot recognize that there are other arts, other than ‘Fine, and literary’. That’s short sighted, and kinda rude.”

He has yet to reply, because he knows I’m correct.

Have I mentioned today, I hate people?

Didn't have to mention it, Rev. We know you hate people, lol.

Those artsy types; they're rather batty. Especially the "modern artists".

Now, that being said... I love "Gun Folk"... an "Country Folk".

But they're rare. And precious... and hated by everyone, and everything...

And they don't have to be "Southern". I've recently met CROATIAN Gun/Country Folk! They're a HOOT!

I wonder if these socialists/communists would think differently if they made lots of money? You should tell your friend he can be an artist and make money, my uncle works in the government mapping stuff and lives quite well....ok he's rich but he paints on the side simple landscapes ala bob ross and sells them. Are the paintings good, sure, are they great not even close. People buy them because the majority of people aren't looking for masterful works of the ages, they like accents and decor. So maybe your friend should watch some bob ross vids and make some real money and in the mean time should go get a real job.

You'd think I would heed my own words but you'd be wrong. I write when I can and have a knack for it, I should write cheesy romance novels or children's books (you know stuff that sells well), but no I toil away on my grand work which will probably never get published and never make me a dime. Well no one ever accused me of being smart! :hysterical:

@Kinetic, there is a big difference between you and Rev's ignorant, artsy buddy. You understand that some people do things that make them lots of money, but don't hate on them for it. Rev's buddy just has a bad case of cranial-rectitis.

I, too, have on occasion led a “progressive/socialist/communist” relentlessly through the logical steps dictated by human nature and intellectual honesty that lead anyone with both eyes open inexorably to the recognition that all people (including even capitalists) are equally entitled to be compensated for their services and that the compensation naturally bears a direct relationship to the value of the service. I also always take them on a little side tour of the unequaled efficacy of the free market as a mechanism for setting those values. You usually, because of their economic ignorance and naivety, have to use really simple examples that include them personally as the person who is not compensated for the fair market value of their contribution. It can be a bit laborious, but it is fun to watch the panic in their eyes as they sense the bedrock of their socialistic bias crumbling beneath their feet. They all kick and scream and struggle through the whole trip and then, having been unable to deny the logic and/or simple truth at any step, reject the entire proposition based on emotion and envy.

Most of them have refused thereafter to engage in any serious discussion with me; for which I am truly grateful.

LOL. The more progressive/communistic states decide for the individual what said individual is best suited for. Your "artist" could well be determined to be suited best for "pencil pushing" or "recycling sorter" and compensated for that. I wonder how he would like those choices.

HE has not replied, but his lil' commie friends are ALL over me with derogatory names, and rhetoric the likes of which I haven't seen since I proved them wrong about being responsible for your OWN health, and safety by carrying a weapon.

Funny how they call us "crazy", and all I have seen from them is behaviors that would have someone committed, or arrested.

The only thing that cracks me up? Skinny lil' bony hipsters throwing threats, to which my reply?

"You ain't worth my licenses, bonding, or permits."

And they think they have won.

I would argue that they "presume" they have won. "Thinking" is not something they do, or are even capable of based on my observations.
