Local authorities and media are reporting at least seven people are dead -- with reports of up to 15 -- in a shooting Thursday at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Ore. SWAT teams reportedly are moving building-to-building, but the Douglas County sheriff is telling Fox News that there no longer is an active threat.

Authorities told Fox News they responded to a report of a shooting Thursday at around 10:38 a.m. local time.

The incident sparked a flurry of unconfirmed reports with varying numbers of dead and injured. A Douglas County Board Assistant said preliminary reports indicated at least 15 people are dead, according to Reuters. Oregon State Police Lt. Bill Fugate tells KATU-TV at least seven are dead and 20 are injured. Authorities confirmed multiple casualties to The Associated Press and the local fire district also tweeted that there were "multiple casualties" but did not elaborate.

A Douglas County Sheriff's Dept. spokesperson said multiple assets were on site and EMS was on the scene. The ATF said on Twitter that it had special agents on the scene.

Students and faculty members are being bused to the Douglas County Fairgrounds and can be picked up there.

That's unfortunate; it's always a sad day when a shooting occurs.

Here we go again.
How many more shootings will it take for the lunatics running our govt. to realize that criminals and crazy people don't obey rules or signs or laws.

Conveniently overlooked, in addition to the "Gun Free Zone" killing fields, is the fact that, even by the lowest estimations, there are six times the number of defensive uses of firearms versus murders...that is total murders, not just mass murders.

Truly a sad event but as has already been stated. Gun free zones are the problem not guns. Every freaking one of these tragedy has been in one. It is so damn infuriating. What stopped the lunatic. A COP WITH A GUN. If a student was allowed to be armed it could have ended sooner.

I also want more details. They are being very quite about race, type of gun and other pertinent details. The religious aspect that has been mentioned is very curious.

I was thinking all of the same stuff. Good guy with a gun had to go there to stop it. Why should we have to wait. Let good people be armed and stop it right away. Its been proven that legal gun owners with CHP/CWP are less. Likely to commit a crime than a sworn LEO.

And yes, what about the religious aspects of this? There is some serious stuff being kept quiet even though the authorities already know the answers.

Every other incident has immediately been "a xx year old WHITE male" or something of the likes been the headline. No mention on this piques my curiosity.

The authorities are looking for a Tea Party connection before saying anything. But the closest they will get is to call him a "conservative Muslim" with great emphasis on the first word.

It's time for a 2A suit at the SCOTUS to make official recognition of the fact that "gun-free zones" are unconstitutional.

There is no such thing as a "conservative Muslim". I don't doubt that there are some Muslims that have some Conservative values... but I am so sick of the media making stuff up.... like White Hispanic Male. Really? Is Obama a White Black Male or a Muslim Liberal?

Listening to David Webb; seems the "mixed race" shooter had identified himself as a "Conservative Republican" on an internet profile.

Mark Levin aired the beginning of the Obama press conference; he cut it off, as well.

I've been hearing about this for hours. The victims and their families remain in my prayers, but it's about time for a new subject. Ain't but so much negativity I can take.

I saw him described as a "conservative Republican" and of mixed race.

MOST of the students AREN'T teenagers!!!!
IF this school had NOT been a Gun Free Zone almost all of the students and faculty would have had the potential to be armed.
Considering national CC averages that would mean that about 1 out of 20 would have been armed if they had been allowed to be.

I can't believe O went on national television and actually said, places with the most gun laws have least amount of gun violence..... I hope a reporter calls him on it the next time he takes questions. It's impossible for him to not know that statement was BS. Yet he says it anyways. Unbelievable imo.
