What do you currently use, and what have you previously used to keep your rifle scopes in place? Rosin, lapping compound, double-sided tape, spray adhesives, corn starch, etc..

What has worked for you in the past; what would you stray away from? Horror stories as well as positive long-lasting solutions are both appreciated and entertainingly humorous.

Blue loctite.

I've never used anything to hold a scope in the rings but, or the rings on the bases, except tight screws.

I have used blue, or red, Loctite on the screws in the bases/receivers on some of the older bolt action rifles.

Never had an issue with a scope working loose in the rings.

blue loctite + a calibrated torque driver

no tricks, no magic.

With higher recoil rifles, I've gone to 6 screw mounts, and they have all stayed put.

You're talking about on the ring screws only, correct? Strange as it sounds, I've heard of folks putting a thin layer of loctite on the scope body between the rings for an adhesive effect.

Second - Blue Loctite on screws only, torqued to spec.

Thanks, wf...seems the overwhelming favorite is as basic as you would think.

The said part was, it was mostly satire. I was hoping to make people laugh, but I hate typing on my phone.

Truth is, I have never had a scope move in the rings or at the base of the mount if it was torqued correctly.

I know some folks are mentioning Loctite, but I have owned a few scopes and a few rings that say not to use Loctite, but with no explanation as to why.

I have just followed the scope or mount manufacturer's recommendations. Who would know better than them? If I recall correctly,if you buy a mount from LaRue Tactical, they come with a small tube of the Loctite they recommend. I also used my well padded Black and Decker Workmate to hold the rifle steady and level while I was aligning and torquing things down.

I just use a torque wrench, I have used blue Loctite as well. On a Picatiny rails I use bolted locking scope rings/ mounts that fit in the number groves with just tight screws. I have never had any real issues with scopes loosening up on me.
