Racial Tension in SC Still High. FL Too.

I have been to Florida several times a year for several decades. Before the murders at the Emanuel AME Church, I never felt uncomfortable strolling around "most parts" of the South. Even during the whole Travon Martin shooting aftermath. Obviously, there are tough neighborhoods in every state. Can't use those as the benchmark. Most places are... or at least had been... pretty friendly.

I don't know how often you guys get down south, but I just came back from Florida and racial tensions are still really high in the Southern states. There is no way I could possibly tell you the hateful and crazy stuff that happened to me on the streets of St. Pete FL without Rick deleting my thread. Holy crap! The crazy part was, twice I was at the same restaurant. I did what I could to just ignore it or defuse it, but at least two of the encounters, I was afraid it was going to escalate from verbal to physical.

I just lost a loved one and simply didn't have it in me to drive all the way to VA from Florida. I stopped for a full day in Florence SC, got a hotel and just relaxed a bit. Man, I was feeling pretty nervous. All the stores and businesses we visited, we were threated excellent. At the hotel, same thing. Great customer service. The woman working there knew we slept in and missed breakfast, so she offered to make us a breakfast.

That said, people crawling the streets were giving us horrible looks. A few people yelled racial slurs. One old guy sped up and tried to hit me with his car while I was walking through a parking lot. I yelled at him after I dodged out of the way, between a few other cars. Now that I think of it, I'm glad I declined breakfast. After how the rest of the day went, I almost wonder if there would have been some extra special seasoning in breakfast... if you know what I mean.

Damn glad I carry. I don't know if the feelings are the same here in VA, but the folks in the Black community are just doing a better job of hiding it or what, but I sure as hell plan on being on my toes a bit more. Even while I'm here in VA.

Be safe out there folks.

I feel it coming.
Obama's legacy.
That will be the moment when we will lose our 2nd Amendment.

No doubt. Almost every action he has taken has been fuel to this fire. Second Amendment or not, I'll defend myself no matter what.

Thank man. Its so beautiful down south. Florida is awesome. Been going back and forth since I was as little kid. We already have one house in Miami-Dade and was thinking about getting another in St. Pete, but after this trip, I'm going to have to watch the social climate for awhile and see if I should sell what I have instead.

Florida is a no go for me. I like the change of seasons. Got a friend up in Michigan with 40 acres. Probably gonna build a small cabin for the wife and I in the next several years. He feeds the wildlife so when the SHTF, we have turkey and deer. Stream running across the land has Salmon in it every fall. Maple trees to make syrup, fruit to make wine and plenty of friends with massive gardens. Also had an offer from another guy up there to sell me 60 acres. People are super friendly, no racial issues to deal with, and life can be very good.

Sounds nice. I'd like "no tension" in general.

There are always rabble-rousers in communities. We have them in the Gun-Community.

However, if they want to feel froggy? Let them jump.

Not everyone they run into is a "Sheep". Some are "Sheep Dogs". Just sayin'.

The "Black Lives Matter" group are domestic terrorist. They are using fear, aggression, and brute force tactics to force the nation to be exposed to their lies and hysterics.

If I were the police I would arrest anyone and everyone who tries to disrupt the marathon. They are nothing but an offshoot of the new BPP. It is pretty simple, no permit, no march allowed.

This POTUS has no ties to the black community here. He grew up in Hawaii, where race doesn't matter. He came here, hung out with mostly elites. Then suddenly he plays the race card and panders... And now racial tensions are higher than in a long time.

This is what fake people do. Spin and churn.

Yes indeed. What I am really concerned about is, if we actually get some leadership that has the spine to start reeling in the spoiled elite troublemakers, is that going to make things worse or better. We need to stop pandering to "the lowest common thug is really a victim" mentality.

When we let things like Ferguson and Baltimore happen, that gives birth to the nonsense we have seen at a few Universities lately. Zero proof of any wrong doing, two careers are over and a media frenzy. I'm just wondering how many more towns will burn.

Anyone notice that Al Sharpton and groups like the NAACP are shockingly silent on the most recent stuff. When even the race-baiters won't touch it, you know it has to be BS.
