Knife Collection - Starting a New One

Hey guys... I am starting a knife collection. I used to have one years ago, but it magically vanished during our move to VA. I had some nice stuff that I wanted to try to acquire again. So I started with a few new adds. I will find some older classics soon, but I figured these would be a good start.
For some reason, I am having trouble uploading all of the pictures, so there are some temporary place holders below. Once I get back to VA next week, I'll fix my server and see what's up.
Couple quick pics of my favorites.
Since I live in Florida part of the year, I am able to acquire a few things I would not normally be able to get in VA, including automatics. My most recent was a stiletto.
This is my new Benchmade Infidel. Coolest collectable I grabbed so far. I wish VA would change their knife laws so it could be my EDC. We'll see how things go next session.
My Benchmade Barrage.
Here's a Benchmade Bali Song butterfly knife.
My Browning Sniper folding knife.
Buck 119c fixed blade
My Winchester fixed blades

Fun stuff.
There's a knife shop in the Hopi Travel Center, off of I-40, in Arizona. They tend to have items not normally found in Virginia, too.
I've always had a thing for butterfly knives. Next time I feel like dropping $120+ on a sharp object that won't do anything but swing around in my hand while I'm sitting idle about the house, I may pick one up.
Usually, though, I don't spend much on knives because I tend to abuse them. That, and they can't be in my pocket while I drive, so they end up being tuckedaway. I swear, TBH must have 40 of my knives stashed away on this truck in some random place.

LOL! I hear you H. I have a couple tucked away in my Jeep because I can't stand having them on my belt or in my pocket while driving.

I love knives almost as much as I love guns......ALMOST. I've got a couple of hundred , mostly cheap ones. I do have a few Collectable, really good ones. A few years back I even got into throwing knives. Several of us even got pretty good. Even though I prefer folding knives,I like fixed blades especially Bowies.Knife collecting is a great hobby....These days my collecting is mostly limited to collecting AMMO .

Thanks for the offer but there's no sense in me drooling after something I can't carry with me.
And going to Randy's would already have enough drooling as it is!

Some nice knives Marc.
My every day pocket carry is a cheapo as I am pretty hard on em. My favorite is my Cold Steel. I'll have to upload some pics when I get a chance....

Yea, I'd like to see whatcha got. Cold Steel makes some nice blades and uses carbon steel for most of them; including some of their entry-level products.

I love my Barrage, but it was really slick due to the smooth plastic handle. So, I trimmed down some Talon grips for a Glock and stuck them on. I think it came out okay. What do you guys think?

Here's a few of my favorites Marc...
These are a couple of my slicers & dicers. Primary use.... game. Have skinned/butchered multiple deer with both of these.
These 2 are probably my favorite knives, and for different reasons. I originally bought this recon for a pocket knife, was thinking edc. However, it's a little big to fit comfortably in my front pocket in every day activity. It's a solid knife, razor sharp, & just "feels right" in my hand. I like it much better in the field although, I carry it in a case. (A custom case made by a member here). It is now my primary field dressing & or butchering knife. It's the only "expensive" knife I've ever bought.
I have a personal attachment to my buck fixed blade. I bought this knife about 25yrs ago. It's had minimal actual use but, I still love to look at it
This is my every day pocket carry....don't laugh. It's literally a $9 knife from Wally World. I bought one several years ago, & loved it. I usually keep the blade sharp, & use it for everything from opening mail, to sharpening carpenters pencils, opening shingle bundles, etc. It has even cut out back straps, gutted trout, & peeled many a apple

The first one I bought about 5yrs ago. the pocket clip broke. I looked everywhere for a replacement, couldn't find it. So I bought another one at Wallys. Fits perfect in my pocket, easy to open & close. One of the few that I can open or close one handed, without even looking at it. It's just comfortable for me & my application/s. Plus.... can't beat the price

I literally pulled it out of my pocket, put on the table to photograph it. It aint fancy but, Hands down the best bang for the buck of any knife I've ever owned.
I have some decorative knives that have never cut anything but a piece of paper. Although, probably the coolest knives I have... are some german WWII knives.

@Viper - Thanks for sharing; cool looking knives you have there.
My current edc is the Kershaw Skyline - drop tip, non-serrated, G10 handle. Very light, and very sharp; fits excellent in the hand. A great all-around pocket knife.

Andy, those are awesome! I love that Buck. It looks like it means business. LOL
No shame in carrying a $10 knife as an EDC. That's a good looking knife and it looks like it has worn well. My EDC was a $7 folder for the last 17 years. Never really spent more than $20 on a knife until recently.

Not at all, though some would disagree. There are certainly some deals to be had at the $10-$20 price point.
I have lost/broken more Oakleys than I care to admit. Chalk it up to young, dumb carelessness. Even so, it's rare that I will purchase 'expensive' sunglasses anymore. Knives are a different story, but I still won't drop over $150 on a single blade, there's no reason or need.
Kershaw, Spyderco, Benchmade, & SOG are some of my personal favorites. Although, I've still got a $15 S&W flipper lying around somewhere.

Thanks Marc. That Buck has a case with the old school camo pattern on it. It's canvas with a hard plastic insert inside. Not sure if you can tell from the pic but, the handle is rubber, with a texture to it. Very grippy. Even when wet. Early in my ownership of it, it butchered a couple deer. Cut through bone fairly easily. It hasn't had any use whatsoever in probably 20yrs though. I'm just attached to it because I think it's cool...lol. It's in a drawer right next to bed. So I guess you could say, it's my back up to my back ups back up in the self defense dept.
Agreed on the cheap EDC's. I used to keep small folders in my pocket. Long as I can remember, a guy just needed a pocket knife. Wasn't until about 10 yrs ago, I started carry a larger folder with the pocket clip. Once I got used to that, the pocket jobs went on the shelf. There's just so much you can do with a decent EDC. As a contractor slash fix it guy.... I use a knife ALL the time. If I happen to leave the house without my folder clipped in my pocket... I feel naked. Plus, it's a guarantee that'll I'll have a need for it too.
Also.... I'm not even the knife freak in my house. My OL is. She has waaaaay more knives than I do. So does one of my sons. However, I think if you were to dump my OL's purse out..... once you woke up, you'd find minimum 5 or six knives, a stun gun, & some mace....lol. She has a whole drawer in her dresser that is nothing but knives...... She has more knives than shoes...!!!!

So... I talked to my lawyer today about carrying my switchblade. It was a very interesting conversation. The main law I was concerned about is
18.2-311 "Prohibiting the selling or having in possession blackjacks, etc.". He said that in his near 30 years in criminal justice, he has never seen anyone prosecuted under this statute.
He pointed out that getting convicted, though is a criminal offense, is a class 4 misdemeanor. A class 4 is not a jailable offense and is punishable by a $250 fine only and only if convicted after a trial. If I am carrying a switchblade for defense or as a tool, not as an item for sale or trade, I am not breaking the law.
The problem is, if I am carrying a switchblade and a LEO finds me in possession, arrest and prosecution is all but guarantied. Then, I will have to prove in court that the possession on my part was for reasons other than to execute a transfer as mentioned in the statute, but rather for defense or a tool. Near certain arrest and a hearing/trial with the burden of proof of innocents on me kind of sucks.
Anyway... my lawyer said that if I do carry my switchblade knife, he recommends I be more aware of the conceal carry code, as that is something I can go to jail for if convicted.
I might get it laser engraved with my name and/or the name of my Trust. Maybe my SSN could be engraved on it. No one in their right mind would sell something with their SSN engraved in it. LOL I don't know what to do.

Looks like you've got yourself an expensive letter opener/orange peeler.
I was always told that, though not technically illegal in VA, there's really nothing productive you can do with them outside of your house, short of risking the above consequences. Bummer!
