Cops find gun cache....

Not minimizing the fact that they cops may have indeed prevented a tragedy- But, I when I read the headline:
"Instagram post leads cops to gun cache in California", I expected, well, a cache - you know, hundreds of weapons.
This is what they found: "Four guns and more than 100 rounds of ammunition were found".
My word -
four guns and more than 100 rounds... ...
I hate to see what they would call the collections that most of you have. ( For the record, I dont own any guns. repeat, I dont own any guns)
One one hand, humorous. On the other hand - disturbing that having 3 guns (one was an airsoft) is looked upon by the media as a cache.
To me, it is another indicator of the vilification of those that simply own a gun, and owning more than one classifies you as some type of wackadoodle or 'domestic terrorist'.

An Arms Cache is a hidden store of weapons. The quantity doesn't matter. If a 15 year old has a shotgun, 2 rifles and a .357 revolver, all hidden in a sub-basement under the floor in his closet... there is a serious problem. I would say that counts as a cache.
Wow... if you watch the video from the LA Times... sounds like the school and police stopped another tragedy at a school.

On the other hand, the kid's lawyer says this:
..........................................................
"Linden Lindahl, the teen’s attorney, said the Airsoft rifle had a bright orange tip that signified it was not a real weapon and disputed the location where the guns were found, according to the Fresno Bee. Lindahl said the weapons were in a basement area that could only be reached through a closet in the teen’s father’s bedroom."
...........................................................
which looks a little different. Also, on the video, what I saw was a pretty ratty collection. Looked to me like a BB gun that looked like an evil AK, a single-shot shotgun, and old bolt-action mil surplus rifle, and what was probably a semi-auto .22 rifle. Not harmless by any means, but hardly a state of the art arsenal for dealing mass death through rapid fire. The kid might have been talking about a MAC-10, but he didn't have one. Then again, if the father was prohibited from owning guns and won't admit they are his, and the guns weren't locked up, maybe there was some justification. Still, to me it has at least the hint of an odor of "jack-booted government thugs" about it, I think; but then I guess the kid might smell a little bit like Columbine, too.
No discussion of whether people ought to be putting songs out there that are deemed to encourage (even the weak-minded) to mass murder.
Big lesson here is, whoever you are, be damn careful what you post on the internet.

Got to say, I couldn't agree more. It's like making bomb joke on an airplane. You have to expect to get arrested after the plane makes an emergency landing because a passenger 6 seats away heard someone say bomb.

Off topic, a pet peeve is the pronunciation of cache as "cachet".

LOL... thank God no one has said that in front of me. I would be busting their chops pretty good on that one.

Now, if you buried weapons in a black container, and it was on a line, would that make it a "JOHNNY CACHE"?
(shakes head) Sorry, I'm not in a good place without sleep.

Yes. A duet with Miss Underwood would be Cache and Carrie.

I thought maybe it would be a cachet if the stocks were pink and they were wrapped in lace doilies.

Your knife-fu is weak......

Not to worry though! As the article makes sure to mention: "Investigators found no firearms."

Since the improvements on accuracy, and design on semi-auto weapons. With only the loss of ammo, powder, and primer, perhaps blackpowder rifles/pistols might be in order, However, the functioning is a bit archaic,
hence you would own...
(wait for it)
a passe' cache...

Put together hastily at the last moment, it is a crash cache.
