Prayers please

This past Sunday 2015-09-07, at 22:38, my Father passed away. Yesterday, September 11th, 2015. Pop was laid to rest.
He fought the good fight, he finished the race, he kept the faith.
So amongst the tragedy of 9-11-01, it will be the anniversary of his burial. I did my best to keep it together, but just couldn't when the Honor Guard presented mom with his flag. That's the moment it hit home. There have been heartbreaks in my past, they paled to that one.
How does one rectify so much pain from so many directions on one day?
Many people showed up to the visitation, he was loved from so many directions. Friends, family, co-workers, people he just knew.
However, going through his things, his concealed handgun permit, his voter registration, and his NRA card were in his wallet. Years of talking to him about things evidently sunk in.
He was a Retired Firefighter, he was a retired Staff Sergeant from the Army Reserves, and he was my Pop.

I'm sorry to hear it, he sounded like a good man! Mourn for him and remember but also rejoice for his toils in this world are over. I'm sure wherever he is he is among the good company of those who have come before.

Prayers coming your way Rev. So sorry for your loss. My father just turned 80, and my brother and I are finding ways to make it easier for him to the do the things he likes to do. And we're doing them with him. People often don't realize what is lost, until it is. God bless you and yours.

My deepest condolences Rev. I'm afraid I'll be feeling the same pretty soon as my father has taken a turn for the worst. My prayers are with you and your family.

Carl... I am so sorry for your loss. I wish there were words to help ease the pain. The only thing to do is remember the good times and the good memories. The pain never goes away, but it gets easier with time.
Your family loves you. Your friends love you. We'll be praying for your strength and for your father.

So sorry for your loss.
I remember when my father died on 2010.
My mother had died 2 yrs. earlier, so after the burial, they handed me the flag as I was the oldest child. I bought a nice display case and have it on my mantle, to see everyday.
9/11 will be an even tougher day now..

I am sorry for your loss and empathize with you. It has been over 18 years since I lost my father, I still find myself thinking of him nearly every day in some way or another.

Sorry for your loss, Rev. You can't know what it is like to lose your father until it happens to you. I didn't realize that until my own dear pappy died in 1998. Cherish the memories, know that he will still sometimes walk with you, and never be ashamed to cry for him. Beyond that, I wish there was something I or somebody could do or say, but I know there is not; except to assure you that you have friends who hold you in high regard and care about you, Bud.

I hate to hear it. I know we can't keep 'em forever, but it still is a hard hit.

I lost my father about two years ago, and my wife lost hers a year ago. It is more than just our loss, our son will only have vague memories of both grandfathers, and any more children will never know them.
My most sincere condolences.
