Taurus Tactical - I goofed

I am making a Kydex holster for a friend. During the process of rough trimming I hit the grip with the saw blade but I will make it right - the right way.

My question: Is the rubber a form of coating or am I in for buying a frame? Here is a pic.

I would expect that depending on the severity of the damage, it might be corrected without replaceing the entire lower.

Can you give us some more information? How serious is the extent of the damage? Also, I don't see any photos; reviewing them would be helpful.

Thanks, WVU.

It is not severe damage but just about 1/16" deep and 3/8" long 1/8" wide. I just don't know what my options are.

I'd like to fine a replacement just in case it is needed. Looks like Taurus has discontinued that model

They have discontinued it, although I don't think that specific part can be replaced unless the entire lower is switched out. That being said, it seems like this is going to be a simple 'take it on the chin' moment. Admit to your friend what happened, and hope for the best. This isn't a bad nick by any means, and personally I wouldn't be furious about it. Hopefully your friend is understanding towards the slight damage.

Let us know how the Kydex holster turns out!

Well WVUBeta you asked...

Making good progress with my 3rd Kydex holster. I made an IWB for myself M&P .40 and my son for his Ruger P95DC 9mm.

Making my first an OWB for the Taurus. I have more sanding, rounding corners and edges, more grommets for the belt loops and forming the sides to fit the hip region better. This has very good and smooth retention. Coming along fine.
