Some of you may be interested: http://www.colonialshooting.com/rva/gun ... offerings/

Gunsite is offering classes in Richmond. This is one of the top self-defense academies in the world and having a satellite training facility so close is very nice, indeed.

Yeah, that's pricey.

Unless, within the course of 5 days, they can take a guy that has no experience in anything, and turn him into a Jason Statham character.

Might be worth it, then.

Don't forget to add the required 1,000 rounds of your favorite FMJ handgun ammo.

Training - especially good training - is not inexpensive. Friends have gone to Gunsite and Thunder Ranch and the feedback they give is that it was incredible and worth every penny. Not sure how the indoor range in Richmond will compare, but I am glad to see it here.

People will drop $$$ on firearms, or a new flatscreen TV, or smokes, or going out to eat, and not spend money on something that may save their life. That said, I understand I am more able than some to consider spending the moolah on this sort of thing. Of course... basement remodel, wife's surgery, etc.... Sigh.

Every non-BS training I've taken; engineering, industrial, guns; has typically ranged from 15 to 25 dollars an hour. If you pay less, it is typically subsidized by someone trying to sell you something. If the training is very specialized you might pay more.

If you break out training to per day, or per hour; I would question training less than $120 a day ($15/hr). And anything over $200 a day ($25/hr) better be good!!

Appleseed is one of the few that seem to have value FAR in excess of it's cost.
