Dylann Roof should NOT have been able to purchase gun

It is certainly good news to learn that Dylann Roof should NOT have been able to buy a gun. The background checks already in existance failed. He had been arrested for narcotics in February. I'm sure it won't matter to the libs but demonstrates that the system failed and more laws would not have helped.

I was under the impression that the gun he used was given to him by his father.

That's what was first reported but as usual it was wrong.

This is the same government that wants to make life-and-death decisions about my healthcare. Also, I'm supposed to trust them to prevent terrorism and not to raid my house in the middle of the night by mistake.

I also understood the gun was a gift from his father too but then read where his father gave him the money to make the purchase.

Unsurprisingly, the story came before the facts. They'll twist this and say that purchases should require an affirmative response, not allowing for the "loophole" that exists.

Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
They fail over and over... People die. Why are there no consequences? And I mean HEAVY consequences... none of this resigning from one position and getting a job in a connected private firm making $$$$. I mean jail time or execution.

I bite my tongue now after seeing a more thorough summary of how the gun was obtained. I thought it was good news but...
The wait period was not long enough - now I can see the libs pushing for a longer wait period.
There was discussion (don't recall precisely) about the different background checks - I can see this shifting to a central location for all states. This would give the libs an easier way to determine who has guns. It would very likely extend the time of procurement of a check and/or permit.
That damn Dylann!

When $hit happens I just become concerned what message the libs see from the error and what solutions may be coming.
I'm a little on the defensive.

It doesn't matter.
If he was all that determined, and apparently he was, he would have found a gun for himself somewhere. Or maybe he would have built a bomb, and killed more people.
Or maybe he would have settled for a machete and a hammer, and gone after school kids.
What's more important, is that he shot at a room full of people who were willfully unarmed.
WILLFULLY unarmed.
They gathered together as the proverbial fish in a barrel, in a type of facility that has been known to attract attackers. And they were willfully unarmed.
Concentrating on whether or not Dylan Roof should have been able to acquire a gun is a pointless distraction.

Negligence, as a criminal charge, only seems to exist for un non-government employed types.
The police shoot/kill/beat, etc. innocent people and the law looks the other way.
The judges let dangerous criminals out onto the streets, and hey, it's okay, for them.
The politicians use their position to enrich their bank accounts, and if they are from the right political party, the "law" ignores it.
Same for the media. They only pay attention to and report the actions of the "wrong" political party folks.
It's only going to get worse.
