Nah. Of course not.
Tis but a fantasy in the mind of John Derbyshire.

The debates would surely be interesting, though.

How about Trump/Nugent?
The Veep Debates would be outstanding: "Mr. Nugent, what do you feel is the biggest problem facing the youth of today?"
Nugent: "You mean besides being marshmallowed brained morons?"

Anyone that thinks Trump could be nominated by the GOP needs to put the crack pipe down and walk away.

Current GOP? Yes. But if GOP splits and a 3-rd party is born?

If Trump was the nominee I'd vote for him.

So many people want me to run as an independent, so many people,” Trump said. “I have been asked by — you have no idea, everybody wants me to do it.”
Pressed about whether he would back the Republican ticket if he fails to win the nomination himself, Trump left the door open for a third-party bid of his own. “I would have to see who the nominee is,” he said.

I'd love to see him yelling at Obama: YOU'RE FIRED!!!!

I would damn near pay money to see a Trump-Hillary debate.
Liberals heads would explode.

Sounds far-fetched, but there's something to be said for a guy who wouldn't have to dole out favors for the $1BN+ its going to cost to get elected. We NEED a viable 3rd party more than ever.

Personally, I don't think that Trump believes that he will be elected.
I think that he wants to bring uncomfortable topics into the debate. I also thinks that he wants to make the establishment GOP squirm.
Since he brought up the whole illegal thing, the only GOP candidate that hasn't caved on that issue is Cruz. Bush behaved predictably.
Trump is a side show, but he's been useful, so far.
Truthfully, if it comes down to Bush getting the nomination, and Trump decides to go 3rd party? Well, I sure as hell ain't voting Democrat. So that cuts out the Dem nominee and Bush.

A 3rd Party will do only One Thing....Split the GOP Vote ! Does anyone remember 1992 ? Ross Perot cast the only vote that counted !

I'm with ya man. I will NOT vote for Jeb based on his standing of a couple of issues that are important to me. I wouldn't vote for Hillary if she was the only candidate on the ballot. Even if she claimed she was on my side of every issue I value.
I honestly don't understand how people actually trust her, especially after the examples staring everyone right in the face. Really, both parties ..... have terrible records of being as solid as jello. Want the same ole same ole, keep supporting establishment candidates.

I miss Perot and his crazy old granny that lived in the basement. He had a good start with the charts and graphs, but it all went to hell after his "you people" remark.

The way I remember it.... Perot was ahead in the polls, & was looking to be elected. Didn't go to hell until he dropped out of the race. He later claimed, he was visited by the "Men in Black" & was told to drop out or else. When he jumped back in.... the damage was done, & the rest is history. However, I firmly believe, had he not dropped out.... he would've won. He might not have lived long but, he was on track to win.

Anyone who believes a politician is looking out for you is deluded.
I got ONE... ONE politician that I think is TRULY doing what he thinks is correct. Dave Brat... and I think he'll be amazing if he can STAY THE WAY HE IS NOW...
But everyone... everyone... gets "Cantor-fied" in the end.

My guy Scott Rigell has been on track so far. It does bother me that he does ask his constituents for the "wisdom of the district" on issues that should be key principles.
I keep track of him by using MegaVote.

What makes you think that (unlikely) third party would only pull from the Right? When we remove issues that should be between 2 adults or between an adult and their God from politics, there is more agreement than is currently possible. When we demand that a party push our beliefs about how others should conduct themselves, we're easily split into ineffectual parts.

I have been reading up on Trump a bit. He has flip-flopped a few times on some big things. Like, though he donates to both parties... large, disproportionate donations go to candidates on the Left.
Also, a few years ago, he was openly 100% in favor of amnesty for all illegals; now he is adamantly against it and is coarse about it to boot.
But the one that is really bugging me is, he claimed to have been Pro 2A. Turns out he's just Pro 2A for country folk with 8 shot lever action rifles, bolt and black powder rifles and 5 shot shotguns. He said pistols and military looking weapons just aren't good in populated areas, you know... like crime ridden cities like Detroit and Chicago.
As charismatic as he is and as fun to watch he has been, ultimately, he's a salesman. I think he is a rich and powerful man. The only thing a powerful man wants is more power. He can take (or buy) everything else he wants.

I was reading up on Trump, myself. He is nowhere near the perfect candidate.
One thing I have noticed, though, is that he seems very concerned about his "brand". So, assuming that he makes all sorts of campaign promises that we like, and manages to actually get elected, what would it do to his brand image if he, not only fails to deliver on them, but blatantly does the opposite of what he promised?
Donald Trump is not a politician. He is a business man. And, though he has plenty of money, I believe that he wants to continue to make more money. I don't think that he would be content to retire after a stint in the Whitehouse.
The one thing that The Donald has done, is make me realize how much I really like Cruz. Cruz is the only one that didn't start whimpering, fretting, and wringing his hands over the immigration comments. On the contrary, Ted Cruz actually stood up and said, "I stand with Trump on this issue."
As far as I am concerned, I hope that Trump keeps talking. At least his comments show us who has a spine, and who doesn't.

Who wouldn't want to see a Donald Trump vs. Joe Biden debate for the primaries? I'd give my left {any body part I have two of} to see that.
