Virginia Gun Owners Forum - VGOF

Can anyone recommend a 1 or 2 day course covering the types of medical care that could be needed after a defensive shooting or civilian first-responder scenarios? Non-EMT tactical or the like... Not looking for an EMT program and I'm not looking to go on ride-alongs.

Looking for something within an hour or so of The Beltway.

I think the Red Cross does those.

W2B says that she is only aware of 1st responder courses, assuming that they still offer them.

She says, also, to check out the Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services website, or if on the peninsula, Peninsula Emergency Medical Services.

She also says try a Mass Casualty Incident course.

W2B spent some time as an EMT, before driving trucks. I run questions like this by her.

I was also directed to the VA Oath Keepers and their Facebook page. Turns out that they teach what I'm looking for, but in Roanoke. I'm going to see if I can generate some interest among my fellow Beltway dwellers to get them to teach one up this way.

I haven't attended any of their courses yet, but they come to NoVA at least once a year.

Classes available on Izaak Walton in Centreville on July 18.
Here is the email I got:

I have openings in a American Red Cross Standard First Aid/ CPR/AED class offered on Saturday, July 18 starting at 10 am at Isaak Walton League in Centreville, VA. We should be done no later than 4:00 pm.
Class is $40/person. Certification is valid for 2 years.
Scouts who have completed 8th grade are welcome, though they don’t count as a First Aider for camp as they are not adults.
