Do I need a tin foil hat?
Once again, it's coming to light that people knew the most recent shooter had issues... and no one ensured a tragedy did not happen.
A tin foil hat may be required, but why is it that the VT shooter, Aurora, Sandy Hook, Sikh Temple, OK bombing, this guy, the Boston Marathon bombers, etc. etc. were all known to friends, mental health professionals, law enforcement, federal law enforcement, and they still managed to go on a rampage?
Is it inhumane apathy? Criminal negligence - manslaughter by incompetence? Or is it something more sinister?

Re: Do I need a tin foil hat?
Unfortunately in those cases, our constitutional right to not be locked up for being crazy or a racist bastard allowed them to slip through the cracks.
We have an estimated 43 million Americans suffering from a diagnosed mental health disorder and another 10 million that are assumed not yet officially diagnosed. I know it sucks... but we can't argue that the government is abusing mental health diagnosis' to strip people of their firearms and other rights, and then ask why everyone let this crazy guy kill people
Its unfortunate, but for all of us to be free, there is a cost for that. Honestly, I wouldn't change it either. As much as it sucks to have good souls take from us... I feel like the assumed risk of something happening is worth not putting almost 20% of the US population in jail and stripping them of their right... just in case.
In other words, risk losing life or guaranty losing life? I prefer to suffer the risk.

If you don't have already a tin hat you're not paying attention.

Tin foil hats? Everyone should have one. There is a reason for conspiracy theories; people conspire to do evil things every day. Most often, it's some globally insignificant guy plotting some globally insignificant thing. But, sometimes it's not.
I consider every conspiracy theory that is presented to me, no matter how ridiculous. This doesn't mean that I always buy it, mind you. I just consider it.
We know that absolute power corrupts absolutely. And we know that people in a position of power typically have the means to pull off the things that they want done. We also know that silver tongued devils exist, who can convince people to do ridiculous things.
So, yes. You need a tin foil hat.
Also, I agree with Marc.

Another reason for the tin foil hat: Charleston shooting was (again and again) during a drill:

Re: Do I need a tin foil hat?
I basically ignore the news media since I retired 7 years ago but I do regularly see headlines and "Top Stories of the day".
From what I have gathered on this shooting is, an evil pistol was so influenced by the sight of a Confederate flag flying in Charleston it grew arms and legs then marched into a church and began killing only black people.
Have no fear however, numbers of brilliant politicians immediately conceived the perfect solution of simply ridding America of all handguns and Confederate flags!
Maybe the simpleton (my solution) solution would be better controlling the crazies.
No wait! Won't work. We would have to round up most of the politicians and a substantial number of voters.

Re: Do I need a tin foil hat?
The progressive mantra of the left has always been that the means justify the end. The gun grabbers don't care how many people die in a church, just as long as it makes the nightly news.
They are still bitching about how their "community organizers" weren't able to turn Charleston into Baltimore. Much to their surprise, no one in Charleston wanted to burn the local CVS pharmacy down.
But at least they do have a rebel flag-wearing SQUIRREL! to distract everyone from what's going on in the rest of the world.

That's the thing! The Community Organizers came SOUTH, and thought they would be able to cause a commotion.
What they forgot? Black, White, Yellow and Brown folks have been living together in some way, shape, form, or fashion for YEARS in the REAL SOUTH! Not the "Ficitonal-Tv-Movie South".
I have seen more segregation in the NORTH, and WEST than in the SOUTH! Progressive/Communists talk a good game about "inclusive", but they act on it really slow.
"So proud of my gay daughter's black girlfriend in a wheelchair". (Slow clap started)

I grew up in North Carolina but have never witnessed the type of segregation I saw living for 4 years in Michigan.

Re: Do I need a tin foil hat?
You know, now that I thing about it, there are significant amounts of diverse communities here in VA, MD, down in Georgia, and Florida. I mentioned those specificly because that is based on personal experience. However, when I lived in Rhode Islandn I don't think I recall seeing more than 3 or 4 black families in the whole state. Didn't see any black people in Massachusetts.
In fact, there were so few black people in New England, that when we were little kids and moved to Florida, I remember my little brother (who was 11 at the time) had seen a black man for the first time and asked my mom what happened to the man that made him look that way. It was actually kinda funny.
Anyway, if the Northern Dems and Libs are so great ab wonderful and are created with freeing the slaves, and the South is so terrible and racist and full of extreme Right slave owning families, why the hell do most of the black population choose to live here and not in New England?
My guess is that the Northern Dems aren't as great and wonderful when it comes to diversity as they claim they are.

Re: Do I need a tin foil hat?
Oh, yeah. I remember leaving the South as an adult, and venturing into Yankee territory. I was highly shocked at the blatant racism.
When I worked for the carnival, we picked up a guy in PA who stated, upon coming to North Carolina for the first time, his disappointment that "there a no n***ers hanging from trees ".
When I lived in New York state, a black coworker knew that I was short on cash, so he had his wife fix extra sandwiches so that I wouldn't be hungry; my girlfriend at the time was shocked that I would "eat food made in a n***ers house " because "they are so dirty".
Even the folks who preached racial tolerance preached it as an ideal for others to follow, not themselves.

I saw a big pick up truck flying to Rebel Flags going down Jeff-Davis Highway... and three separate vehicles driving by older black gentlemen gave them THUMBS UP!
Kinda thought, "you know? Media THINK they control us, but at a ground level. Face-to-face? We're all kinda realizing we're in it together."

Re: Do I need a tin foil hat?
I was thinking, yesterday, that I would like to fly a large Confederate flag from my van, and drive up and down Monument Ave., and near the Governor's Mansion.
I was talking to a black guy at work, yesterday. He's from Texas. He flies his own Confederate flag. He has all his life. He doesn't understand the point of the whole sudden upset over the flag.

Tell him it was engineered by the left - they want to energize the democrat voters in the South and pry the republican electoral control away from the region...

With this episode and the constant treason from elected RINOs, now you believe me that soon we will have a strong 3rd party? It's hard to form the critical mass, then it will grow faster and faster.

No one really cares about racism and race. They just want a f*** platform and their soundbite. Americans eat it up.

Being from Boston & Maine growing up, I must admit that I experienced more racists back there, than living here in the Virginia Beach / Norfolk area.
Boston was brutal at times.
