Yes, but that, too, will change. Television, the automobile, and workforce mobility have all but destroyed regional dialects.

And carpetbaggers who correct me on my pronounciation of the "PO- WHITE" parkway can kiss my redneck keister! Just sayin', it's call "PO-WHITE" because that's where the PO WHITE PEOPLE LIVE!

Heh heh heh. Actual Southerners in Williamsburg refer to the Parkway as "Po-white ", too.

I'd never given much thought to the correct pronunciation of Appalachian. Although, now I recognize another disservice of the public school system. I USED TO pronounce it correctly. Then school happened. Daddy, of course, has always pronounced it correctly, which is why I used to. And, now I will again.

I always wondered about the correct pronunciation. Have heard it both ways. Now I know.
