Pigs!

So, early this morning, I'm driving I-30 through Texas, and I see weird shadowy shapes in the road. It's really dark, and I'm thinking that that my eyes are playing tricks on me.

Nope.

Flock of effin pigs. Like 40 of them. In the middle of the friggin interstate.

I just hit a flock of damn pigs. My truck is a bit damaged. I don't know why this stuff happens when I drive. W2B drives and hits bugs, and maybe little birds. I drive, and giant turkeys kamikaze into my truck, mule deer jump right in front of me, drunk kids rear end me, and now, a flock of pigs form an invisible, fleshy, roadblock in front of me. WTF.

This is why I won't move to Texas.

Hmmm.... I'd say boar meat makes pretty gamey bacon. Hope SHMIV ran over at least one sow.

I have hunted them along the red river and the only ones worth eating are small sows, the rest are bitter tasting, yuck!

That's because nobody trims wild hogs. That's what "boar meat" means to us Hillbillies; hawg meat from an animal that hasn't been "trimmed".

I tell you what; those pigs were not reflective. Usually, I can spot animals from a distance, even in the dark. When I hit that deer a while back, it was in a curve, and it bolted out from the woods.

But, these boars, by the time I saw them, I was on top of them.

I couldn't tell you if I hit any sows or not. I wasn't too concerned with that; I was more concerned with the shape of my truck. It's looking a bit mangled from the front. W2B is embarrassed; she says it looks like we can't drive.

I'm just glad you're okay.

Wild Pigs are a particular lot that usually require much in the way of treatment before cooking. Soaking for an overnight after being trimmed, in a solution of apple cider vinegar, ancho chilies, cilantro, then slow cooked into BBQ is the best way to go.

I had to go to Dillon S.C. today....I-95 all the way there and back. ONE thing I noticed today more than any other time is how many Tractor Trailers have really Heavy Duty front bumpers or either BIG " Brush Guards ". I got to thinking about you H ...hoping you have something similar on your truck !

I do have such a thing. Although, it's not the big @$$ moose bumper that covers the whole front.

Those pigs mangled my bumper guard pretty good, but the damage was able to be hammered out. Without that guard, I would have had to been towed away.

I hit a deer, about year and a half ago. I was in a different truck, but I still had a bumper guard. That bumper guard had only been installed for about a week. The deer didn't cause any damage at all. I had some blood specks and a tiny patch of fur to clean up. No big deal.

By the way, I didn't bother to harvest pig meat. Pigs eat people. I killed a couple, but there were still about 38 of them left. I didn't even stop until I was far away from them, lol.

It occurred to me that those pigs showed up on the interstate during the Texas Floods. My guess is that rising water compelled the herd to find higher ground; and they found it on a road bed.
