Ben Carson

Watched Carson's announcement speech this morning. It was a snoozer, and I don't see him making it to the end, probably pulling out middle of 2016. He's asking people to abandon party and person and use their heads for something besides a hat-rack. Good luck with that Ben.
However, I see him having an effect on this election cycle. Carson is a kind and gentle man, characteristics not well suited to politics in America, and I think the other candidates may have second thoughts about leveling the stinging criticisms common to political discourse. Even if he is castigated severely, I think he will ignore as much of it as he can and continue to make the sensible arguments regarding economic and social reform that some people have responded to favorably.
The thing that will keep him out of the White House is the jaded view the public has of the political system. He will be seen as one who will not be able to change much, if anything, about the way Washington does business.
I'll be watching him, and barring any big political mis-steps, I intend to support him for as long as he is in the race. I think that his place in all this may be to unite a block of voters, then step back at some point and try and convince this block to support a more viable candidate. I also think that Hillary isn't a shoe-in for Democrats. Watch O'Malley run her ragged.
It's going to be an interesting season.

I'd find it easier to support Dr. Carson if he would make an unequivocal statement in support of 2A.

I have found it interesting seeing the racial hate speech from the left already. Dems are incredible hypocrites.

Yes, I think it's funny just how many older white guys I see with BEN CARSON 2016 stickers on their car... but I thought old white Republicans were all racist?

His 2nd amendment stance and his lack of support for informed consent is a no-go for me.

He has no chance unfortunately. He lacks speech skills, and we will not go too far. His voice makes you sleepy, not able to energize the public.

The longer he stays in the race the longer I can call everyone racists for not liking him.
It worked for the other side.

Bob - Agreed, but his support of the Constitution is enough for me. I do plan on writing him about his lack of overt support for 2A. And I haven't heard any of the candidates come out with a strong statement in support of 2A in their announcement speeches. Have I missed something?
They have all professed support of the Constitution. If they support the Constitution, then to withhold support for 2A would be contradictory and would cause me to withdraw support.
Kelu - Yep. This is why his announcement came and went without much notice. This is also part of my problem with politics in general. You have to be a politician, and he said he doesn't want to be one. Frankly, I'm tired of the politicians running for office. They piss me off just by showing up in front of a camera. Then they open their mouths and it's all over for me.
MBC - Write to him. He won't know if he doesn't hear from potential voters.
And as for the rest of my brothers and sisters in arms - yes, white people are racist simply by virtue of being white. Just ask Al Sharpton. And if you see that bastard, give him a ride to the U.S. Treasury so he can pay his millions in back taxes. But then I guess that would be racist.

Lincoln did not have much of a voice either. His voice was high and a little reedy, yet people leaned in to hear him. Calvin Coolidge also had a mild voice. Reagan was a master at using the microphone. His voice was also mild and pleasant, even when he spoke the strongest phrases.
If we could afford to experiment right now, I'd like Carson very much. But in this crisis I think we need someone who not only is 100% on the right principles, but has the demonstrated ability to behead the government Hydra.

I like a lot bout him; almost everything, in fact. Except that he seems lukewarm at best on the Second Amendment and I'm not sure we can trust a doctor on health-care; which will consumer the economy if we continue to write it a blank check. We need somebody who is willing to advocate the abolition of entire federal agencies, and then DO it. But we can't get somebody like that elected, either.

My question, what is the freakin' purpose of getting into a race you know you have absolutely no chance of winning in the primary?
None. Mike Huckabee announced, and I thought "Doesn't he generally act like Dem-lite?"
(shakes) I'll just say it, I want a "Nugent/Beck" ticket
Wanna shake some sh't up!?!?? THERE IS YA' SHAKE! Every terrorist nation in the world would drop a load in their pants "(in arabic of course) No freakin' way! TED NUGENT WON!?!? Achmed, Pack up, we're moving to India, and becoming Hindus!"
