Hmmm, if a Democrat has this done it would be a head transplant, if done on a Republican it would be a body transplant.

Funny you say that, Alan. After posting this, I was discussing this subject with my mother. She stated that it would be more accurate to call it a body transplant. "I wouldn't want a head transplant ", she said. "I'd end up with a bunch of strange memories, and none of my own."

That is if the soul and consciousness is in the body not the head. Personally the only way I'd do a body transplant is if it had a head attached and was made of a biomechanical material complete with sensors to create all the sensation of living, then place my brain in it.

And since we're on the subject of science fiction I wouldn't mind my dna spliced with an animals. Imagine the regenerative properties of axolotl, which can regenerate any part of it's body and if it's head lives long enough can regenerate it's entire body. Or perhaps a shark with it's ability to constantly regrow it's teeth as well as their innate ability to never have cancer.

3d printed organs would be a godsend to those dying or organ failure, and it would also greatly increase our life expectancy. But I could imagine with our greedy nature society would be turned into the movie "Repo men".

The brain is in the head, so I would assume that memories would be kept there, and would expect to find the consciousness there, as well. When one considers the soul, I suppose it gets a bit iffy.

I have read reports that recipients of organs have been known to pick up traits of the donors, so I have to wonder what receiving an entire body will do.

And, if a donated organ adds to your personality, will receiving a 3D printed one take away from your personality?
