So I bought another Rock Island 1911, specifically a railed MS 2011 that came with both 22TCM and 9mm barrels. I got the singe-stack version.

I went to Elite Shooting tonight, to test it out. This gun was throwing flames at least a foot in front of the muzzle. I'm not exaggerating. It was to the point that I was beginning to flinch because of the big flashes. It's got a loud bark, too.

I had a box of 22TCM on the range table and an RO saw the ammo...he began to ask questions. He stuck around for the first mag's worth of fun (I currently only have one mag). I looked at my target and he commented on two things: 1) although I was hitting 7-8 o'clock from bulls-eye, the grouping was tight and many of the holes were touching. 2) he made a point of commenting on the muzzle flash.

I shot 100 rounds and didn't want to quit, but I had brought other guns to shoot. I only had two jams: a spent case didn't want to come out of the chamber and there was an immediate double-feed afterward. Other than that, there were no issues. Oh, and the ejected brass kept hitting the slide on the way out...I've got what looks like copper marks next to the ejector port.

I bought 250 rounds of 22TCM from an online store for $18.99/50-box (it got here within 2 days), but during the wait, I found out that Virginia Arms sells 22TCM (for $26/box). The Gun Shop also sells it for $25/box. It's good that I can find this round locally.

The timing on that muzzle flash was perfect! Congrats.

My last pistol was shooting low and left out of the box. By the time I put 200 rounds through it, the point of aim was the point of impact. Keep running rounds through it, it should straighten up soon.

Yes Indeed....2011.
Hey Unix, FYI, I have one of your used TCM casings. I picked it up because it was the first one I have seen. You must have already left. Did you buy the model that comes with both the TCM and 9mm barrels?

Yes, this one came with those two barrels...makes it less than a range gun when they come like that, IMO. I'm not sure if the 22TCM can be used defensively...I mean, I'm sure it can, but there's serious risk of over-penetration, even if they're JHP. I saw a YouTube video of that one older guy with the braided beard (Jeff Quinn?)...he punched through 3/16" steel with the 22TCM.

That casing is a real eye catcher, though...that's what attracted the RO.

I had to look up 22TMC. Interesting. I have also been considering a 9mm 1911. Nice.

I looked at one of the Rock Island 22TCM / 9mm today. I have been interested for a while...The dealer did not have the one I want but , can get it in just a few days. I've got a little research to do and will order it this week. :pistol:
