This is legislation specific to Washington DC, not the entire nation, but affects many of us who travel to DC or commute.

From NRA-ILA:
This week, U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and U.S. Representative Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) introduced “The Second Amendment Enforcement Act of 2015” in the U.S. Senate and House respectively. These bills would restore the fundamental individual right for law-abiding D.C. residents to Keep and Bear Arms to defend themselves in accordance with the law. This bill would also conform D.C. law to federal laws in regards to governing firearms commerce, while also allowing D.C. residents to purchase firearms from licensed dealers in VA and MD, without the current hassle of D.C.’s onerous firearm registration system. The D.C. permitting system would also become streamlined, allowing for more law-abiding D.C. residents to legally obtain a permit and carry concealed firearms for self-defense.

Sounds good, but I wish they would add something to force DC to recognize CCW permits from VA, without a bunch of silly restrictions.

The don't have to because the new law forces DC to become a "Shall Issue" federal jurisdiction. The National Reciprocity Act they are trying to pass at the same time will work in concert with this law to allow anyone with a valid CHP/CCP to carry in DC.

Congress is running 3 bills at the same time to try to force national reciprocity.

BTW... the Reciprocity Act has been submitted repeatedly for years in the House, but killed when it gets to the Senate. This Year, the Senate created their own version. If it passes in the Senate, its all but guaranteed to pass the House of Representatives.

I've believed that since 2008.
