Southern Travel

So I will be road tripping soon to southwest FL and checking the VSP web site today there is no reciprocity in GA. I thought we were good all the way down. I guess a rest stop, stop near the border will have to be made. Anything to know about GA and travel with arms.

I go to Florida regularly. Like you said... before you cross the state line, make a pit stop. I recommend locking the weapon and ammo in separate cases and making sure the weapon is unloaded. make sure its out of reach of the driver and passengers. Pretty standard stuff will get you through just about any state.
Their state code says you can carry a loaded firearm in your car...
§ 16-11-126. Having or carrying handguns, long guns, or other weapons; license requirement; exceptions for homes, motor vehicles, private property, and other locations and conditions
(a) Any person who is not prohibited by law from possessing a handgun or long gun may have or carry on his or her person a weapon or long gun on his or her property or inside his or her home, motor vehicle, or place of business without a valid weapons carry license.
...but I wouldn't test that theory.
