Governor McAuliffe has signed two gun bills into law so far. He still has until the end of month to act on the other bills.
These bills have been signed and will become effective on July 1:
SB 1191 - Senator Norment - adds the word "knowingly" to the law on carrying a firearm onto school property. This will prevent someone who has **accidentally** brought a gun on school property from being charged with a felony. (Guns can legally be brought onto school property as long as the gun is: 1) is in a vehicle, and 2) stays in the vehicle, and 3) is stored in the vehicle in certain specific manners.)
HB 1666 - Delegate Fowler - fixes an inequity in Virginia law so that someone who no longer lives in Virginia can get their gun rights restored in a Virginia court.
I will advise as the fate of the other gun bills becomes known.
