So weird.

A Minnesota cop on vacation in Florida was the victim of an attempted carjacking, but instead, helped local security subdue the perp.

I have a friend who lives in Minnesota that is part of a National Mustang club I am in too. This story is about one of his friends, a local cop, was on vacation in Orlando with his family and a couple they are friends with. He was trying to leave the airport with a rental van just after arriving when some dude tried to carjack the van the LEO was in while the perp was being chased after trying to steal a rental car just seconds before.

The vacationing LEO is the guy with his knee on the perps head for the last 30 seconds of the video.

Though lethal force was not needed in this case, I still feel this is a great example of why National Reciprocity is needed and every CHP holder should travel (even air travel) with their weapon. If you don't have a permit and you go somewhere you can OC... bring your weapon. This could have gone south really fast.

I used to work about a mile from the airport; lived less than 5 miles from there.

Very cool. When were you living down there? My younger brother lived in Winter Park (about 10 minutes away) for a long time. Then he moved to Altamonte Springs. I'm pretty familiar with the area after hanging out a few times a year with him for the last 20 years.

It's always been heavily policed and stuff like that doesn't happen too often. I was kinda surprised to hear about it.

I was there from 7/07 to about 10/08. I didn't stick around too long; just long enough to not be missing some bad habits and bad influences.
