Thinking about getting a Sneaky Pete holster for a Kimber Ultra Carry II. Wondering whether to get a belt loop holster or a belt clip holster. Seems obvious the loop would be harder to lose while wedging my rather broad posterior into an armchair, but the clip would be a lot easier to get on and off because I wouldn't have to take my belt halfway off. It is not unknown for me to find chairs that are just too narrow for me to sit in even without a holster on my belt.

I guess it all boils down to just how secure the clip holster is. I have very limited experience wearing and using holsters except the old-fashioned kind everybody used when I was a youngster.

Any opinions/advice on this issue?

If this is a IWB holster I like belt clips (some even give you a shirt tuckable option for more formal occasions). I think between the holster being inside pressed between you and your pants that it's not going anywhere.

For a OWB holster I'd go with belt loops because if you're anything like me you'll be banging that darn thing on everything and I wouldn't feel comfortable with just belt clips keeping it secured.

I mostly agree with SB. However, one thing I note is that belt clips are not that easy to get on or off. They are pretty sung because they have to be. The easiest I've found to get off and on are the loops with snaps on the end that can be unsnapped.

For my IWB I have a BladeTech that has clips. Carrying the XD-S .45 with only 6 rounds doesn't make it as heavy as your Kimber would be, but it feels very secure on my belt and I've had no issues with it wiggling around or its way off even when drawing.

I don't know for sure but I think I would be concerned with he Sneaky Pete (wallet like stiff holster) and a smooth metallic clip
that it could be pushed up and off a belt or pants when sitting down.

The loops or a plastic clip with the retainer bottom edge may not experience this problem.

I don't think you have to do anything with your belt to apply the loops. Just unsnap the loops and push them behind the belt and re-snap.

You might contact them and ask if they offer the FOMI clip:

I have two tuckable holsters and I have yet to figure out how to tuck and make it look clean. I'm making a Kydex holster with a single FOMI clip and will try to mount on a 3" deep "U" shaped piece of Kydex to make it tuckable. Not sure this will be any better but I'm going to give it a try.

I reckon all Sneaky Pete holsters are OWB. Leaning toward loops.

I've seen more than a few clip holsters get 'drawn' with the gun during classes.

I've never seen a loop holster get pulled off a belt during a draw/shoot drill.

Wow I didn't know that the Kimbers were that light. It'd only be about a 5 oz. difference between the two so I doubt you'd really recognize a difference either, Dorm.
