Just when you thought this guy had already shot himself in both feet. The pink mafia will crucify him for this.

W2B is a big fan of Carson. I believe he has his merits.

I admire him for speaking bluntly.

He does have his merits, and I agree with SHMIV and W2B that he should get credit for speaking bluntly. It is refreshing to hear someone utter a complete sentence, and even more, a complete thought. All while being coherent.

I especially like his attitude on taxes. Everyone pays 10%, period. No loopholes, no deductions, no write-offs. You make a dollar, you owe 10 cents. You make a billion, you owe a hundred million. Oooh! Wait! That sure does look like the rich will pay more! Soak those bastiges, they can afford it! Imagine, filing your taxes on a postcard. I think I remember McCain talking about that once.

And Congress is subject to all the laws they pass, RETRO-FREAKIN-ACTIVELY!

Okay, I'm done. :soapzip:

What's wrong with being "gay for the stay"? I thought that was a given for long-timers?

Anyway. He is a medical doctor and many doctors believe that both homosexuality and socialism are mental disease. So, I am not surprised to here him say this.

And you know what else... no candidate is perfect. Never has, never will be. The real issue is... will he take his personal feeling out of it and help run the country fairly. I believe he will. I think he is a true Constitutional Conservative and will lead the country as such. Especially if he is a good Christian (am I aloud to say that here?)

See, as a Christian, I was taught that homosexuality is a sin... so is cursing, per-marital sex, sex without intent on creation of a child, etc. And part of the teachings is that, as a Christian, we don't condone sin, but we don't judge people either. Instead, we should welcome all, especially people who sin, to be a part of our Christian faith, to learn the Will and Word of God. It is "Us", the sinner who needs the Word of God.

Will we stop sinning? Likely not, but we still love, support and educate our brothers and sister. Not to belittle and not forcing it on them, but answering questions and providing guidance when asked.

If Ben Carson is a good Christian and a good, solid Conservative, he will speak openly about his positions when asked, but won't force his opinions on people. A good leader will do just that... show people the way... but it is up to the people to chose to walk a path or not (aka individual freedom).

I think Ben Carson (or a man of his caliber and faith) can save this country if he (or she) could just make it past the Rhino's.

@Marc, in reference to homosexuality being a mental disease: I have always found it interesting that it's popular to believe that a homosexual is born that way, while simultaneously believing that a pedophile is sick and curable, and some seek to find the root cause of the pedophilia. Both are sexual preferences.

Yep, I agree that they are both preference. Lots of hypocrisy on the subject.

Nice rant Marc. I too, believe that a good person, much like Carson can help turn us around. That being said, he/she has to have very thick skin and have the best advisors to avoid the common pitfalls of politics.

It's an ugly game typically won by ugly people.

Carson has walked back his comments on the gays. I guess he really is going to run for the GOP nomination after all.

Here is one writer's take on the so-called "herd of elephants" vying for the GOP nod.

http://www.weeklystandard.com/articles/ ... 50272.html#

Ben doesn't fare too well in this guys world. He puts Rubio and Walker in a dead heat for the nomination. I could see that, but won't put my eggs in anyone's basket until we get further along.

I'm so disappointed in Dr. Carson. Never apologize for things you can't control or for offending people when you express an opinion or fact.

Now, if you have a really unpopular opinion, I would expect that you wouldn't be too popular. In that case I would keep it to myself, but walking back on something like that is weak. There is enough weakness in the GOP.

Sorry mr carson I've never been to prison but yet here I am! We know about as much about the human brain as we do about the depths of space, so I say how dare anyone say for certain what is a mental illness. The human condition is a mental illness, but you know some would call believing in a being you cannot see or touch or speak to a mental illness. It's funny I never remembered in all my life ever being anything other than gay, just for the longest time I never had a name for it. I have never had any use for names, to me the ones who need them are those who should just shut their mouths and mind their own damn business!

To all the people that say being gay is a choice; when did you decide you were going to be straight? That had to have been a choice as well, right?

That question being answered honestly by many, would likely ruin friendships and have internet acquaintances stop communicating.

A wise man once said, "don't ask questions you don't want answers too."

From the Christian point of view, being gay MUST be a choice. To say otherwise is to deny the Word of God.

Human nature is to sin, and we all have our favorites. What tempts one man, may hold no appeal to another man, but that other man will most certainly be tempted by something else.

Passing judgement on others is also sinful behavior, incidentally, so I am not judging; I am just making an observation.

Wouldn't it be nice for politicians to just stay on the subjects they're SUPPOSED to stay on?

Taxes, Legal Rights, and Policies.

It would be nice, but their own personal bias impacts their behavior on their job. So, the personal questions are almost a must.

This is why, in my opinion, Dr. Carson is not suitable as a candidate for president. To my knowledge he's not had a job in which he had to be diplomatic about topics. Bedside manner, sure. Blunt, of course. But in the position of POTUS there is a real need to be able to put unpleasant facts diplomatically and/or know when to shut up that I don't think Dr. Carson has. Even if that flaw weren't a handicap in getting the nomination, which it most certainly is (as Rick Perry, Todd Akin, Michelle Bachman, and Mitt Romney discovered last time around), it makes him less suitable for the actual job.

That said, once his advisers got through to him on guns, I've liked pretty much everything this guy has said. (Though I reserve judgement on the "gay because of prison" thing until I've seen some stats.)

Do you think his actual position on guns has changed or do you think one of the advisers just told him to pay lip service when speaking to the base?
