Got a new Glock & New M4 Stock

Well... I have been a SIG fan boy long enough. Don't get me wrong, still love my SIGs, but I had to expand. You need variety, you know what I mean?

I got my first Glock. Nothing fancy. Bone stock Gen 4 G17. Taking it to the range in a few hours. I also got a King Tuk holster for once I know it works and I'm ready to carry it.

Also got a new MOE-SL for my M4. Once my tax stamp comes in for my SBR, I think it will look a little better than the standard MOE stock.

Just got back from the range. I'm pretty impressed. This is a neat gun. I was really shocked to watch the bullet point of impact change as I broke in the barrel.

I ran 200 rounds through it today. When I first started firing, the target was at 7 yards and the group was 3 inches low and 3 inches left... but it cut a 2 in hole in the paper. As I got closer and closer to finishing the 200 rounds, I just watched the group move closer and closer to the bullseye. By the time I fired the last mag, it was pretty well on point at 25 yards.

I think I will run another 300 rounds through it and as long as I don't have any issues, I'll make it my daily carry for awhile. My SIG has a lot of miles on it. She needs a break. LOL

Great choice! Glock is by far my favorite and the 17 is tried and true.

So, I'm kinda bummed out about this gun. I have run 800-1,000 rounds through my SIG between cleanings and had no real issues. One of the reasons I went with the Glock was because I heard, like with SIG, some guys have run 5,000 or even 6,000 rounds through them without cleaning and have had zero issues.

Well, after only 450 rounds, 451, 452 and 453 were all fail to feed. After that, I gave up. Gonna clean it tonight and see if that fixes the problem or not. I'm sure it will, but I'm still a little let down given all the hype and bragging, especially from Glock and Ronald Lee Ermey (Glock spokesperson and actor).

All three rounds from the same box? Makes sense if you are using 50 round boxes. I'm not a Glock lover, but the ammo would be my first suspicion.

Yep, same brand, same box. I'm working at the moment, but when I get freed up, I'm gonna clean it and test with the same 3 rounds. All of the rounds were the same brand.

I hope its just because its dirty. A box of out of specs rounds is unacceptable. I'll trust a clean Glock for personal defense (at least so far), but a box of bad rounds will get someone killed.

If you were using personal defense rounds, yeah that would be bad.

Yes Sir. You need to train with what your carry round would be. Training with range quality FMJ's, but carrying +p JHP's is not a good idea. The weapon will perform different. If you train with FMJ's, I recommend carrying FMJ's.

Congrats on the new Glock Marc !!! I don't own a Glock , but have shot thousands of rounds with a couple of buddies of mine. Mike has 2 and Scott has 3 and anytime they have an issue it is the Ammo . G17 is a great choice. You will be very happy with it ! :pistol:

Thanks Randy! Good to hear positive experiances. I figure there has to be a reason mos military and law enforcement carry Glock pistols than any other brand.

I did get a chance to clean the pistol, but I haven't been able to test fire it yet. I was able to load and eject several rounds manually after the cleaning, but it still feels like its hanging up a little. Maybe that's not the right word. Its like riding a bike over a curb. It works, but its its jarring.

Next trip to the range, I'm going to try different ammo. I have been using Jack Ross, but I'll switch to Hornady or some other well known brand and retest.

Any way the extractor could have accidentally been bent. Sounds like something is no longer aligned properly. I was complaining about my 26 bouncing brass off my forehead and the armorer bent the little tab ever so slightly but just ever so slightly to much and then the slide did not run smooth. He felt it right away when he reassembled it and put in a new extractor (free of charge). Sound very similar.

@ Ron... Thanks man. I am taking tomorrow out of work. If the weather holds out, I'll take it out back and get a few pictures of the M4 with the SL stock on it.

@ H... Gun is a pieces of crap. Total waste of money from a defense prospective. I can't even really use it for a range pistol. It keeps jamming and its all over the place on shot placement. I thought is was me at first, but I pulled my SIG out to send my last 10 target rounds down range and it was dead on.

I'll keep it just to be able to tell the Glock fans I have one, but I don't see me buying another Glock. Not anytime soon anyway.

Sorry to hear that. I'd always heard that Glocks were super reliable. I'm sorry that your experience was negative.

I appreciate bud. I seem to have bad luck with weapons. I went through 2 DPMS SASS and just couldn't get a rifle running. Bought a SIG 716, figured I would have better luck and that sucker just eats scopes.

Then I have/had other weapons like the GSG5 MP5 replica, which everyone said was garbage. That was the coolest, most reliable weapon I had. Wish I didn't have to move storage offsite or I would still have it.

Is the Glock put together properly? (extractor - extractor depressor plunger - extractor depressor plunger spring - spring-loaded bearing - slide cover plate, in that order. "metal-to-metal, plastic-to-plastic". Getting them reversed causes problems. Also another common problem is the firing pin safety spring turning sideways above the firing pin safety.)

Are these jams possibly being caused by a bad mag? Have you been able to trace the problems to a particular mag? (number them)

As a mechanical design it is built to operate (with the proper ammo). With as many out there as there are that are working and yours not being significantly different, there is something out of "kilter". Glocks are one of the most reliable pistols on the planet. That can't be disputed. We gotta figure this out.

Well said. There is a reason so many LEO use them. They work. All the time. I have many a Glock and have never had any resemblance to an issue like Mr Spaz claims.
