New From Illinois

Hi everybody! I just joined the Forum. Found you on Tapatalk.
I live in Illinois, but my daughter will soon be moving to Virginia, so I thought I would come here to find out about the gun laws before she gets there.
I own a S&W MP9 FS, and my wife recently got a S&W MP22 Compact.
Looking forward to meeting some great people and learning a lot here.

I am in Central Illinois...the Bloomington/Normal area.
We (finally) have concealed carry here. Both my wife and I are members of C.I. Shooting Sports and will take our concealed carry classes there soon.

I grew up near Mattoon. Glad to hear you're really from Illinois, and not Chicago (which really should be its own state or something).

Yep. Mattoon is not too far away. Downstate Illinois is a good place to live.
I am a Normal person (geographically speaking)
I stay away from Chicago and Crook County as much as possible.
It was the Chicago politicians that caused Illinois to be the last state to pass a concealed carry law. And it took a Federal Court order to get that done!

Welcome to the forum! I think your daughter will like it here.
If she is a political Conservative, I would encourage her to stay south of Prince William County. If she is Liberal leaning, then NoVa is the place to be. Regardless of where she goes... the gun laws are pretty friendly and there are lots of great resources statewide.

Thanks. I'm hoping she will like it there. Her husband is US Navy.
