Derringer and a bit on Alcatraz

After the trip to Mesa, Az for the loss of my brother, we drove on to Ca. to visit family. We visited most of them in SoCal then pressed onward to SF.

We took a trip to Alcatraz - fortunately we all escaped :)

One very interesting cell was the escape cell for 3 criminals years ago. The head in the bed is what was used as a decoy for the inmate. It was made of soap bits, cloth and bristles. The would lay on their backs and crawl through the hole and up the vent ladder to the outside.

Never been so jealous. My neice was given this from her father. It is a .357 American Derringer.

You can see the breach opens from the top rather than the bottom - just a little different.

I tried to talk her out of it but I wasn't successful...darn!
