You are so lucky to be living in Virginia

I moved to FL last year. The cost of living in Northern VA was driving me to drinking. And AA meetings are too too long. I still have my concealed carry license from VA and I got an additional one in the great state of FL. What I truly miss is "OPEN CARRY". People freak here if they see a handgun. I've killed 3 snakes since I moved here. Finding a place to shoot is not fun, and I find it hard to kill an animal. BTW i'm located in the under populated area of Marion County. It's not as beautiful as VA, but we have our moments. Twice a day we get visited by two WILD turkeys. I feed them. They are gorgeous. Occasionally, we get deer or a bear. And lots of rabbits and squirrels. When I mow the lawn, i pack heat. Too many snakes and so little time. Though the price of ammo has stabilized, I cherish every round. When I retire, i'm going to move back to the Old Dominion. Never take VA for granted. :ak47:

There are good things about FL as well. Government in the sunshine, radar detectors, no income tax, no personal property tax, home owner exemption, etc. I am going to miss the VA woods. We are moving back after ten years in VA.

I love VA because of how diverse it is. I lived in Florida for years as a youth. It was pretty awesome. If they had more ranges and OC, I would consider retiring there. But, Moab Utah is at the top of the list right now.

You might not know that Gov. Scott recently signed a law allowing private ranges to exist as long as the bullets do not leave the property regardless of local ordinance. There is a fellow in West Palm that has been on the FL forum talking about his range in an expensive subdivision including pictures. I also think open carry will come to FL. They also have a much nicer CCW permit than VA.

If you like no seasons and blistering heat in the summer, then FL is the place for you. See ya!

Gotta love the open carry law.
