what do you think of this place? they've got the cheapest firearms transfers in town, charging only twenty bucks. its a real, legit business too, which i feel more comfortable going to rather than some guy's house who happens to have an FFL, who i found on the internet.
good selection of new guns.

I have bought several guns here. They have always been top shelf when I have dealt with them. That is both new guns and FFL transfers. This is a good place to do business.

+1 to va arms. great place. Bernie and the rest of the staff are very helpful. Competitive prices on their stock and you can't beat the $20 FFL transfer fee.

I have bought every gun I have ever owned, with the expection of maybe two, from the VA arms company. The store owner, Bernie, is on the floor all week and keeps his regulars on a first name basis. He also has two guys working with him, Patrick and David, who are great to deal with. I highly recommend them to anyone in the area needing just about anything firearms related.

I've done two transfers through them, and bought a third gun there. One thing that's nice is that they are so well known that you don't have to fax FFL info to the transferring shop since they've already dealt with Virginia Arms before and have their info on record. The only downside is they're so popular that it can be really crowded sometimes. Wish I lived closer though.

Oh, at VA Arms there is also this guy who has a louis vitton holster that he had made out of some old purse (his wife's I hope!) My friend and his wife and I thought that was a trip.
He was helpful, too. Kind of a funny guy, but he knew his stuff. Actually, all the staff there is top notch. Highly recommend this place.

So far I have not purchased a firearm there, but have made several other purchases there. I have always been treated very well, and enjoy going there and seeing what they have. They are also one of the few shops around that I've noticed they wiped down the gun after being handled before putting it back in the case. Nice. I have friends that have purchased many firearms from there and they come highly recommended.

Yeah - VA Arms is definitely the best gun store in NoVA. Guns and Ammo Warehouse is good too, but VA Arms is the best. Wish they handled reloading supplies....

This IS the best Local Gun Store LGS in NOVa !
I was in there about 3 times in the past week .... looked at a pre-owned Sig P245 for $599 on Thursday May 7th, but wasn't ready to buy that day. Went back Monday May 11th and it was long gone.
Did more research and wanted to put my hands on a Walther PPS polymer, single stack, .40 can called on Tuesday to see if they had any PPS and they informed me of one on consignment ... rushed over after work.
Normally brand spankin' new, you can get them on GunBroker.com with ONE magazine for about $600 shipped. So I figure $20 FFL transfer from VA Arms if they had one THERE for $640-650 I'd buy it.
The consignment gun left the factory in Sept 2008 as evidenced by the test round. The gun had one super-slight blemish on the slide but you really have to look for it. It came with all 3 different sized mags 5rd 6rd & 7rd (the two extras are worth $50 each if you can even find them) and it had a LaserLyte Rail Laser (retails for about $150). So doing some quick math (i.e. rationalization for my wife/Chief Finance Officer) This whole package retailed for about $900 if new and they were selling for $599 ..... BAM SOLD !
I've talked with two guys there David and Patrick both are friendly and knowledgable and I would not hesitate to buy from them again.

I recommend them. Two years ago I bought my Glock 23 there and put my G30 on consignment through them. Very clean and nice selection. One of my coworkers, a federal agent, turned me on to them after he dealt with them. I haven't been there since Amerika's darkest day so I can't speak to current availability of merchandise.

Does VA Arms have a smith on the premises? If so has anyone had any work done? I'm looking to do some sight installs and maybe a little tuning.

VAC did my night-sights on the SIG (Trijicon) - Robb spent all of 15mins on the pistol; VAC charged me ONLY for the price of the new sights (no labor - but I believe that had to do with the fact that I purchased the SIG from them about 2mos earlier).
Unsure of the work that you need done; but can say that if VAC does that type - it will be done with PROFESSIONAL results.
Unless I find a "can't beat this deal...." VAC will always get my business (even though there are other places closer and also where I am a shooting-member with discounts).
Good folks, so far I have dealt with Ted (purchased the SIG), Tim (additonal mags, overal conversations on maintenance, etc), Bernie (telecom on availability of ammo, Trijicon vs. others for night-sights); and last - Robb who did the actual install on the SIG of the night-sights - ALL good folks...!!
