Hello,
Can I buy a AR from a neighboring state as long as it's brought from a FLL?
Have seen both yes and no answers.
Want to get a Daniel Defense V3 as soon as I can once Im out of communist NY.

Yes you can. However, since it's a scary black "assault" rifle, you will probably need 3 forms of ID at your local dealer for the background check. My local dealer has always been happy with my voter ID card (which proves citizenship) and my VA D/L.
When in doubt, ask your local FFL prior to any online purchase.

I meant can I buy a AR in person and just bring it home.
Say I'm in West Virginia, North Carolina or Pennsylvania and spot a AR I like. Can I buy it on the spot from a FLL and then transport it back home myself - or do I have to have the rifle sent to a FLL in Virginia and pick it up from there?

From a Federal level, it looks like it depends on where you buy it and where you are moving too. If you are coming to VA, have to find one in a State with purchase and ownership laws equal to VA's law.
Federal rules...

Q: From whom may an unlicensed person acquire a firearm under the GCA?
A person may only acquire a firearm within the person’s own State, except that he or she may purchase or otherwise acquire a rifle or shotgun, in person, at a licensee’s premises in any State, provided the sale complies with State laws applicable in the State of sale and the State where the purchaser resides. A person may borrow or rent a firearm in any State for temporary use for lawful sporting purposes.

Just a quick unsolicited opinion... I hope its okay....
Why risk it? VA has some amazing vendors and manufacturers of weapons. Unless you find someone out of state with a "once in a lifetime" special deal... I'm 100% sure that with less than a day of effort, you will find the same deals right here in VA that you would anywhere else.
Just my opinion. Of course, I wish you the best with whatever you do.

I was just curious what the laws were.
I found a couple ARs I was looking at, for quite a bit less in West Virginia.
I did find a couple places where the prices werent too bad, and I always want to support local business.
If I really cant find what I want locally, theres always gunbroker.

Why risk it?
because there is no risk for the buyer?
Over the counter sales of long arms to non-residents is fine as long as you as a DEALER comply with the local state laws, and the laws of the state of residence.
