The municipality of Dorval was right to refuse any concessions to Islam and Sharia. “For Muslims who disagree with secularism and do not feel comfortable in Canada, there are 57 beautiful Muslim countries in the world, most of them under-populated and ready to receive them with open halal arms in accordance
with Shariah.

“If you left your country for Canada, and not for other Muslim countries, it is because you have considered that life is better in Canada than elsewhere. “Ask yourself the question, just once, “Why is it better here in Canada than where you come from?”

“A canteen with pork is part of the answer.”

Never could understand why people leave a country they don't like, then try to change the country they immigrated to into the country they left. Makes no sense.

Actually I was born and raised in Washington State back when it leaned right.
It took until after my first daughter was born for her Alabama native grandfather to admit that "Damn Yankee" (at least in reference to me) was two words.

I have never understood why anyone would leave some place for another then try to recreate the same crap they left. Many come to Virginia with the same idea in mind, that we must accomodate, conform to them. Boy do they get a rude awakening when they run across me.

I REALLY hate to burst th bubble of everyone who has read this post but the story that is referenced in the title and original post is FALSE. Not only that, it is an exact copy, with the location changed, of the original hoax.

The missive alleged that Mayor Marc Duvivier adamantly refused to remove pork products from school menus, and that he had issued the statement reproduced above in response to the request. The "pork in canteens in Belgium" e-mail regained traction in September 2014 and resumed its spread through inboxes and social media sites like Facebook and Twitter.

This is a perfect example of rumors that we wish were true but aren't.
What caused me to do a web search is that the OP didn't have a link to a media outlet story.

That being said, I must also state that I thoroughly AGREE with the sentiments of the rumor's author, whoever he is/was, and many of the posters here.
Do accept the hospitality of an area that takes you in and then try to make the place fit your idea of Utopia. Especially if you left your previous home because you hated it there.

Rallying around hoaxes hurts the cause. It makes those who swallow the bait look like the wingnuts that the libtards point at to smear us all. Promoting falsehoods is the Left's only activity. Let us be demonstrate the difference by consistently insisting on truth.

A is A. A real public statement by a real person of recognized authority or credibility is a fine thing. A fake one is not merely unhelpful - it detracts.

I knew the story sounded familiar when I first read the post. It may have been posted here a few months back; one of Dorms unvetted emails, maybe?

I like the sentiment, and I wish that one of our representatives on the state or federal level would gather the nerve to say such as that.

While I agree with Bob - we really shouldn't rally around a hoax ( for precisely the reasons that Bob stated), I think that this thing is still worth sharing. It just needs a disclaimer; ie "The following is a fictitious letter that's been circulating through emails and forum posts. While the letter is a hoax, the content is worth considering. "

Perhaps we could edit a few key specifics, and send it to our own representatives, as an example of something that we want to hear from them.
