when I was growing up till a few years after I got married, I was able to step into my back yard and start shooting. Now Im older ,and enjoy some of the comforts of life, and living in a populated neighborhood lets me enjoy those comforts. BUT if I were step in back yard and fire a firearm I would find myself in the crosshairs of Henrico's Finest in under 2 min ( I live about a quarter mile from henrico courthouse) so now the only option I have is to pay $20(per person) at the range every time I get a itchy trigger . dont get me wrong the range I shoot at is very nice and the people very friendly. But I dont have a lot of extra income and I would go broke if I went to the gun range 3-4 times a week. so let me get to the point I am looking for a shooting club and or a place to shoot that is affordable and within a reasonable distance of Henrico/Richmond. I would like to find a place where I can take my family and put some lead down range . Hunting and shooting is a family tradition Thatwas passed to me and I passed on to my sons and now I have Grandkids old enough to start learning the responsibilities that go with being a gun owner/Hunter. we wont be around forever and I feel it is up to us to prepare out heirs to protect and enjoy our 2nd amendment rights. so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Well, if you're on the western edge of Richmond you're not more than an hour away from Rivanna Rifle & Pistol Club in Charlottesville. Yes, it's an hour drive, but you and the family can spend up to the whole day having fun at a variety of shooting sports. No waiting list to join, and the dues are probably the best bargain in the state. rrpc.org

You're close to the Chickahominey (sp) WMA with a free range near the boat ramp.

I believe I got there going behind Providence Forge. 155 to 614 to 615 turns to 627, to 621. It's below the dam, and not terribly far from 5.

We were just wanerig around and found it a few months ago. There are some restrictions during hunting season, I think. I don't recall them to be honest. Except for CCW, you don't want loaded rifles/shotguns in certain areas unless hunting if I recall. You better look it up.
