Anybody run a suppressed 10/22?

I was shooting my Ruger 10/22 for the first time suppressed today. Unsuppressed it runs like a champ. Put on a SilencerCo Sparrow and every 4-5 rounds it would FTE.

Since there is more back pressure with the can, I wouldn't think this would ever be a problem, but it was. Took the can off and the gun ran fine. Put the can back on and again, every 4-5 rounds, it would FTE.

I'm not as familiar with the mechanics of a 10/22 and will take a good look when I clean her next.

I would ask SilencerCo if there are particular ammo brands they recommend using with the can to see if that makes a difference.

Try subsonic? Should run fine with the can on.

Thanks for the responses…I'm going to first try to replace the extractor and see if that fixes things.

At the risk of necrothreading...

Curious what came of this. Extractor fix the issue? Ammo?

Hey Monkey,

I actually haven't even had the chance to test this out… Only time I've pulled my 10/22 out of the safe was for an Appleseed late last year and I ran that unsuppressed.

I did replace the extractor with a volquartsen one and I plan to do a full range day with the 10/22 to do a full diagnostic on the 10/22. How ammo and the can affect POI, etc.

I'll take detailed notes and share with everybody! Unfortunately, if I shoot at the NRA range I can't take pics! Maybe I'll go to ELITE.
