I'm starting a search for a home defense pistol, with too much information and not enough recent experience. As a form Marine, I've had a fair amount of experience with various weapons, but that was a whole bunch of years ago.

I'm also curious about the numbers of lawsuits actually filed by break-in types, or their heirs, against homeowners who shoot them. Everyone seems terrified of these lawsuits, but I've not been able to find a single actual solid reference to even one.

:welcome: to VGOF. Yes these are something we've been discussing. Its focused on the need for a castle doctrine where citizens who shoot someone in self defense has automatic immunity from civil prosecution. Please join our quest.

Here is my philosophy. Shoot them, doesn't kill them? Shoot them again. Simple, should be dead then. And, they can't sue.

Welcome to the site.

My opinion. Yes we need a castle doctrine. It should be nationwide. Every mans home is his castle. Every castle should have a moat. Every moat should have flesh eating marine life. Shoot the perp so he falls in the moat, wait 15 minutes and call 911...

If I dig my moat deep enough and the scumbag falls in. I'm waiting 30 minutes and then dialing - nothing... :hysterical:
